BB&E is an employee-owned, full-service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to the Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking an experienced VoIP Systems Administrator / Cisco Unified Communications Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and expansion of enterprise Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems for the U.S. Navy in Naples, Italy.

This position will provide advanced Tier II and Tier III technical support for Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure across multiple geographically dispersed Department of Defense (DoD) installations throughout Europe.

The successful candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), SIP trunking, enterprise network administration, and cybersecurity compliance.

The position will play a critical role in supporting the transition from legacy SL-100 telephone systems to a centralized, secure, and highly available enterprise VoIP environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced Tier II and Tier III administration, troubleshooting, and operational support for enterprise Cisco VoIP infrastructure.
  • Administer Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) clusters, including publisher and subscriber servers, Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), SIP trunks, voice gateways, and dial plans.
  • Support the migration of legacy SL-100 telephone services to enterprise VoIP systems.
  • Perform advanced VoIP troubleshooting, including call routing, call quality, latency, jitter, packet loss, and connectivity issues.
  • Administer and maintain Linux and Windows server environments supporting enterprise VoIP applications and associated services.
  • Perform security monitoring, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, and patch management using Trellix, WSUS, and related tools.
  • Monitor enterprise voice infrastructure using NetScout nGeniusPulse or equivalent network performance monitoring tools.
  • Support enterprise routing and network integration, including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, ACLs, and quality-of-service configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DoD cybersecurity requirements, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and established security policies.
  • Support centralized VoIP operations and remote troubleshooting across multiple Navy installations throughout Europe.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, performance reports, and change-management records.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing advanced Tier II and/or Tier III support for enterprise VoIP or Cisco Unified Communications environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
  • Experience with Cisco CUBE, SIP trunking, voice gateways, dial-plan configuration, and enterprise call routing.
  • Experience administering Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise routing protocols, VLANs, ACLs, and network infrastructure integration.
  • Experience performing network troubleshooting, packet analysis, and VoIP performance monitoring.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance, vulnerability remediation, and patch management in a DoD or comparable enterprise environment.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex VoIP system and network issues.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance and access credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • CompTIA Security+ and Cisco CCNA or higher certification.
  • Experience with Trellix, WSUS, and NetScout nGeniusPulse.
  • Experience supporting DoD networks under RMF and DISA STIG requirements.
  • Previous experience supporting Navy, DoD, or OCONUS telecommunications environments.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed enterprise VoIP systems.
