The posting

About the role:

As a VulnOps Engineer at Smartstream, you will own the end-to-end vulnerability operations function across our entire product portfolio. You will manage a single, unified, risk-scored vulnerability backlog that consolidates findings from SAST, DAST, SCA, container scanning, IaC scanning, secret scanning, CSPM, LLM-based code scans, manual penetration tests, and customer-reported issues.

You will design, build, and operate the ASPM/RBVM platform - tuning integrations, configuring risk-scoring logic (exploitability, reachability, business impact), driving deduplication, and expanding automated PR-based remediation. You will partner with engineering teams to ensure SLA-driven remediation, surface breach risk proactively, and continuously reduce mean-time-to-remediate.

This role sits at the intersection of security, engineering, and automation. The objective is to deliver measurable risk reduction to the business - reducing noise to engineering teams while ensuring critical vulnerabilities are remediated within agreed SLAs

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and operate the enterprise vulnerability management program, maintaining a unified backlog of security findings from multiple security scanning tools, assessments, customer reports, and emerging detection capabilities.
  • Manage and optimize the ASPM/RBVM platform, including tool integrations, risk scoring, business-context tagging, vulnerability prioritization, and dashboard reporting.
  • Drive vulnerability remediation and SLA compliance, partnering with product and engineering teams to prioritize, track, and reduce security risk in line with established remediation timelines.
  • Drive remediation of cloud and infrastructure security findings, partnering with Cloud Security and Engineering teams to track, prioritize, and address AWS security vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, container security findings, and infrastructure security risks.
  • Operate security automation capabilities, including automated remediation workflows, vulnerability enrichment, and continuous improvement of detection and response processes.
  • Coordinate vulnerability communications and reporting, including customer-reported vulnerabilities, third-party CVE impact assessments, executive dashboards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Vulnerability Operations program by reducing operational overhead, improving remediation efficiency, increasing automation coverage, and reducing mean time to remediate (MTTR).

Requirements

  • 4+ years in VulnOps / vulnerability operations, AppSec operations, or DevSecOps with a heavy backlog/ops focus.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more ASPM / RBVM / vulnerability-operations platforms.
  • Working knowledge of leading SAST/SCA/container/IaC scanning platforms.
  • Scripting fluency in Python (preferred) or equivalent - comfortable building integrations, ingestors, deduplication logic, and reporting tooling against vendor APIs.
  • Familiarity with CVSS v3.1 / v4.0, EPSS, KEV, and modern risk-scoring concepts (exploitability, reachability, business impact).
  • Familiarity with SBOM standards (CycloneDX, SPDX) and supply-chain scanning concepts.
  • Excellent written communication - much of the role is asynchronous coordination with engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience operating to a published vulnerability SLA in a regulated environment (FSI, healthcare, gov).
  • Familiarity with OWASP DSOMM Level 2 expectations for VulnOps.
  • Experience with CSPM tooling on multi-tenant cloud estates.
  • Exposure to DORA Article 19 incident-reporting timelines.

Key Skills

Vulnerability Management, VulnOps, AppSec Operations, DevSecOps, ASPM, RBVM, SAST, SCA, Container Security, IaC Security, CSPM, Secret Scanning, SBOM, CycloneDX, SPDX, Python, CVSS v3.1, CVSS v4.0, EPSS, KEV, Risk-Based Prioritisation, Auto-Remediation, SLA Management.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
