At Side, we partner with some of the world's leading developers and publishers to solve complex production challenges and help bring exceptional games to life. From concept through live operations, our co-development teams work as trusted extensions of our clients' studios, contributing expertise across design, engineering, art, audio, QA, and production.

We're looking for a Web Game Developer with strong experience building browser-based games to help develop engaging, performant 2D experiences for desktop and mobile browsers. You'll work hands-on across rendering, animation, audio, responsive layouts, and performance optimization using a modern web technology stack.

This is a 3-month freelance engagement, working 40 hours per week, and is fully remote within Brazil.

Requirements

What you will be doing:

Browser Game Development

  • Build and maintain 2D browser-based games using TypeScript/JavaScript, PixiJS, SolidJS, Vite, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Implement game animations, transitions, and interactive experiences using tools such as GSAP.
  • Integrate web audio using Howler.js and manage game assets, sprites, textures, and atlases.

Performance & Responsive Experiences

  • Optimize games for performance across desktop and mobile browsers, including memory, rendering, loading, and runtime performance.
  • Build responsive experiences that work across different screen sizes, resolutions, and aspect ratios.
  • Use browser debugging and profiling tools to identify and resolve performance and technical issues.

Development Workflow

  • Collaborate with the team using Git and established development workflows.
  • Build reliable, maintainable systems that support efficient iteration and content development.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across the game, browser, and web technology stack.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong professional experience developing 2D browser-based games.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript and hands-on experience with PixiJS or a comparable 2D web rendering framework.
  • Experience with HTML5/CSS, SolidJS, Vite, and Git.
  • Strong understanding of browser-based animation and transitions, particularly GSAP.
  • Experience implementing web audio, ideally with Howler.js.
  • Proven experience optimizing web games for desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, including different resolutions and aspect ratios.
  • Experience managing sprites, textures, atlases, and other game assets.
  • Comfortable using browser debugging and profiling tools to diagnose technical and performance issues.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Tailwind CSS.
  • Testing experience with Vitest and/or Playwright.
  • Familiarity with analytics and telemetry tools such as PostHog or Sentry.
  • Experience with asset delivery or CDN pipelines.
  • Previous experience developing casual, puzzle, or other HTML5 games.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary.
  • Dynamic, multicultural and fun environment.
  • You will be working for the world's leading provider of game services.
  • We empower our people and offer regular progression opportunities to ensure our employees flourish.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
