Job Overview

As an Engineering Manager in the ServiceNow Platform team, you are accountable for people leadership, platform health, and delivery outcomes. You will lead one or more engineering teams responsible for building, operating, and evolving the “B.Now” platform as a reliable, scalable, and well-governed enterprise capability.

This is a great opportunity for a strong technology leader to guide and coach an engineering team while taking full ownership of platform health and technical direction. You are not expected to be a day-to-day developer, but you must be technically credible—able to guide architectural decisions, challenge implementation approaches, and step in when required. You will work closely with Product, Architecture, Security, Risk, and Business stakeholders to ensure the platform evolves in line with Booking.com’s strategic priorities and regulatory obligations (including SOX and DORA).

This is an advanced engineering role at the intersection of business and technology; requiring hands-on knowledge of enterprise workflow platforms, CMDB, automation, and integrations, as well as a strong ability to connect engineering with business outcomes. What you’ll be doing:

People Leadership

  • Inspire, motivate, coach, and develop ServiceNow engineering teams across multiple capability areas;
  • Directly manage engineers, support career development, performance management, and succession planning;
  • Lead by example by taking ownership, being proactive, and removing obstacles to enable engineers to do their best work;
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture focused on quality, innovation, continuous learning, and celebrating unified success;

Technology, Craft & Delivery

  • Act as the primary custodian of the “B.Now” ServiceNow platform’s health, ensuring stability, performance, availability, and incident readiness (including P1/P2 alerting and mitigation);
  • Drive engineering planning, technical quality, best practices, and unified monitoring/observability (dashboards covering MID servers, discovery, critical integrations, and performance analytics);
  • Lead automation and toil-reduction initiatives using IntegrationHub, standard flow design patterns, and AI-augmented operations (Now Assist, agentic AI, AI Control Tower governance);
  • Oversee integration reliability and operational excellence between B.Now and core enterprise systems (Service Directory, Nemo, cloud platforms, HR, and finance systems);
  • Drive continuous improvement and technical excellence across operational processes, monitoring, and runbooks.

Architecture & Product Strategy

  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to define, shape, and deliver the roadmap and operational plans;
  • Own platform architecture and participate in architectural governance (ARB), ensuring alignment with Booking.com development standards, the TCM playbook, and platform upgradeability;
  • Oversee CMDB health, CSDM alignment, event-based discovery (AWS, GCP, corporate infrastructure), and Service Mapping to transition from asset visibility to service intelligence;
  • Support cross-platform collaboration with Central Tech and partner teams to deliver strategic capabilities (e.g., DORA reporting, legal service delivery, asset management) aligned with corporate work-classification models;
  • Drive data-driven prioritization using clear platform metrics, Service Health indicators, and outcome-focused reporting.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong people management skills with at least 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams in complex, fast-paced environments;
  • 10+ years of overall experience working with enterprise workflow platforms such as ServiceNow;
  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management experience, commercial awareness, and technical vision;
  • You are a humble and thoughtful technology leader who leads by example, gains teammates’ respect through actions, and acts as a multiplier;
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, configuration vs customization trade-offs, and platform lifecycle management;
  • Hands-on knowledge of ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB/CSDM, and enterprise integration patterns;
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), discovery, and event-driven architectures;
  • Proven track record of operating high-availability enterprise platforms and managing P1/P2 incident escalations;
  • Strong analytical skills, a data-driven mindset, and a solution-oriented approach;
  • Knowledge of Java and JavaScripting is a plus;
  • ServiceNow certifications (CSA, CIS ITSM / ITOM / ITAM) are a plus;
  • Experience operating platforms in regulated or high-control environments (e.g., SOX, DORA) is a plus.
