Behind that mission is a team of professionals who provide the financial insight, governance, and accountability needed to deliver meaningful change across the organization.

We're looking for a Project Financial Controller to join our Corporate Project Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and analytically minded finance professional who thrives at the intersection of financial management, project delivery, and strategic decision-making.

In this role, you'll partner with project teams, portfolio leaders, and senior executives to provide financial support across WSIB's enterprise project portfolio. You'll help ensure projects are financially sound, risks are understood, and strategic investments deliver value.

Why This Opportunity?

This is more than a financial reporting role. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Influence financial decisions on enterprise-wide projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to drive responsible investment decisions.
  • Strengthen financial governance and controls that support successful project delivery.
  • Transform complex financial data into insights that inform executive decision-making.
  • Contribute to projects and programs that shape the future of WSIB.

If you're energized by combining financial expertise, strategic thinking, and business partnership, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Project Finance, the Project Financial Controller is responsible for portfolio financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and financial governance across enterprise projects and programs.

You will provide trusted financial advice to project teams and leadership, helping ensure sound financial management, effective controls, compliance with accounting standards, and informed decision-making across the project portfolio.

What You'll Do

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Lead portfolio budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting activities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Analyze project, program, and portfolio financial performance and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and financial models that support strategic decision-making.
  • Research and assess complex accounting and financial issues, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor the financial health of the project portfolio and communicate key insights to stakeholders.
  • Ensure project financial objectives align with WSIB's strategic priorities and enterprise goals.

Financial Governance & Controllership

  • Develop and maintain financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks that support effective project delivery.
  • Monitor project expenditures, forecasts, resource utilization, and budget performance.
  • Validate financial forecasts through analysis of actual costs, progress achieved, and future projections.
  • Support the management of capital and operating expenditures across the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial policies, and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of portfolio financial management practices, tools, and reporting methodologies.
  • Applying Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies to monitor project performance, measure progress, and support financial decision-making.

Strategic Partnership & Advisory

  • Act as a trusted financial advisor to project managers, portfolio leaders, and business partners.
  • Translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to support successful project outcomes.
  • Influence decision-making through evidence-based financial analysis and recommendations.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within a large, complex organization.
  • 2-3 years of experience supporting projects, programs, or portfolio financial management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or progress toward designation.
  • PMP certification or project management training.

Who You Are

You're a curious and proactive finance professional who enjoys turning data into meaningful insights. You bring a strong foundation in financial analysis and controllership, paired with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence decisions.

You ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions respectfully, and provide practical solutions that balance financial discipline with business needs. Most importantly, you're energized by the opportunity to contribute to projects that create real organizational impact.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
