WSP USA is seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented Nuclear Business Development Lead for the U.S. Earth & Environment (E&E) business. Reporting to the Power & Energy Sector Lead, this role will drive growth in the nuclear market by identifying, shaping, and advancing opportunities that align E&E capabilities with client needs and WSP’s broader nuclear strategy.
The Nuclear Business Development Lead will serve as E&E’s principal growth leader in the U.S. nuclear market, working closely with other WSP business lines to bring integrated solutions to clients. The successful candidate will leverage an established network across nuclear developers, utilities, contractors, engineering partners, technology providers, and other industry stakeholders to build pipeline, strengthen strategic relationships, position WSP for priority pursuits, and convert opportunities into profitable work.
A Day in the Life
As the Nuclear Business Development Lead, you will:
- Develop and execute a U.S. nuclear business development plan for E&E in alignment with the E&E Power & Energy sector strategy.
- Build, qualify, and manage a robust pipeline of nuclear opportunities across new generation, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), existing fleet support, environmental services, permitting, remediation, decommissioning, waste management, and related infrastructure.
- Leverage established relationships with developers, utilities, contractors, engineering partners, technology providers, and other key industry participants to create early visibility into upcoming work.
- Collaborate across E&E, Power & Energy, Transportation & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, and other business lines to assemble differentiated, integrated client solutions.
- Lead account planning, opportunity capture, teaming, and pursuit strategies from initial engagement through contract award.
- Develop strategic partnerships and teaming arrangements that expand WSP’s access, credibility, and delivery capacity in the nuclear market.
- Represent WSP at client meetings, industry conferences, trade associations, and partner forums.
- Provide market intelligence on clients, competitors, procurement models, regulatory developments, capital programs, and emerging technologies.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, client focus, technical excellence, and disciplined growth.
Your Impact
Strategic Leadership
- Translate the U.S. nuclear market outlook into focused growth priorities, target accounts, and actionable pursuit plans for E&E.
- Advise the Power & Energy Sector Lead and E&E leadership on market expansion, investment priorities, partnerships, and competitive positioning.
- Establish growth targets and track pipeline, sales, win rate, and other leading indicators of business development performance.
- Coordinate with WSP’s U.S. and global nuclear leaders to align account strategies, share intelligence, and deploy the best available capabilities.
Business Development & Market Growth
- Establish and maintain senior-level relationships across the U.S. nuclear ecosystem, with particular emphasis on developers, contractors, engineering partners, utilities, and technology providers.
- Create access to opportunities early in the project lifecycle and help shape scopes, delivery models, and teaming strategies.
- Drive disciplined pipeline development, qualification, forecasting, and conversion to support revenue and backlog growth.
- Lead capture planning for priority pursuits and coordinate compelling value propositions, win themes, and proposal strategies.
- Support negotiations for strategic contracts, master service agreements, joint pursuits, and teaming arrangements.
- Identify and activate cross-selling opportunities that connect E&E services with capabilities across other WSP business lines.
Client Leadership
- Serve as a senior relationship leader for selected nuclear accounts and prospects.
- Build trusted-advisor relationships by understanding client investment plans, project risks, procurement strategies, and delivery challenges.
- Connect clients with the right technical, environmental, advisory, engineering, and program delivery expertise from across WSP.
- Partner with project and operations leaders to expand existing accounts and identify follow-on opportunities while maintaining strong client outcomes.
Industry & Partnership Development
- Represent WSP in priority U.S. nuclear organizations, associations, and market forums.
- Cultivate relationships with developers, EPC contractors, engineering firms, specialty subcontractors, technology vendors, research institutions, and financial or public-sector stakeholders.
- Evaluate prospective partners and develop teaming strategies that complement WSP’s capabilities and improve competitiveness.
- Strengthen WSP’s market profile through speaking engagements, client workshops, publications, and targeted thought leadership.
Cross-Business-Line Collaboration
- Partner with E&E operations and technical leaders to align growth priorities with available capacity, credentials, and delivery capabilities.
- Form integrated pursuit teams across business lines and clarify roles, accountabilities, commercial considerations, and client interfaces.
- Help identify capability gaps and inform strategic hiring, partnerships, or acquisitions needed to support nuclear growth.
- Maintain strong alignment between business development commitments and safe, high-quality project delivery.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in the U.S. nuclear, energy, environmental, engineering, or infrastructure market, including significant business development responsibility.
- Demonstrated success developing client relationships, building qualified pipeline, leading capture strategies, and winning complex projects.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. nuclear market, including key clients, developers, contractors, engineering partners, technologies, regulatory considerations, and procurement models.
- Established network of senior relationships throughout the U.S. nuclear industry.
- Proven ability to influence and coordinate across business lines, geographies, technical disciplines, and operating teams in a matrixed organization.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, commercial judgment, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple strategic pursuits, maintain disciplined follow-through, and operate effectively in complex stakeholder environments.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting nuclear developers, utilities, EPC contractors, architect-engineer firms, government agencies, national laboratories, or technology providers.
- Familiarity with advanced nuclear and SMR development, licensing and permitting, site characterization, environmental services, existing fleet programs, decommissioning, and nuclear waste management.
- Experience developing and managing strategic accounts, alliances, and cross-organizational pursuits.
- Recognized industry presence and active participation in relevant U.S. nuclear associations and forums.
Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $228,300 - $321,800
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
