Job Description
Project Manager, Water Asset Design
What if you could shape a career as unique as you?
At WSP, you'll find room to grow and do work that matters to you. You'll also get the backing of a global business and the chance to work with talented people who will broaden your horizons.
Why this role? Clean water and reliable wastewater services touch every community. As a Project Manager in our Water Asset Design team, you'll lead projects that make a real difference. These range from network maintenance schemes to some of the largest water projects in the UK.
We work with many of the UK's biggest water companies and the contractors who support them, along with industrial and international clients. Our work covers water treatment, wastewater treatment, sewerage and water networks. You'll be part of a friendly team spread across the UK and supported by our colleagues in India, so you'll have the capacity and expertise to deliver.
What you'll do
- Lead multidisciplinary projects from early options through to delivery and handover.
- Shape proposals, including scope, resources, programme and budget.
- Own the project's profit and loss: forecasts, costs, risk, billing and cash collection.
- Put in place and maintain the key project documents, such as plans, schedules, risk registers and stakeholder maps.
- Manage contracts and change, ideally under NEC.
- Lead, guide and develop your team, including Assistant Project Managers, and work closely with suppliers.
- Keep clients informed, spot issues early and champion quality, health and safety, and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects.
- Confidence in stakeholder management, risk, planning and commercial control.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Comfort using project management tools and software.
Nice to have (please still apply if you don't tick these):
- Experience in regulated or non-regulated water projects
- Membership of APM, PMI or ICE, or working towards it
What's in it for you
- Projects that matter: you'll lead schemes that keep clean water flowing and protect rivers and coastlines. That includes some of the largest water projects in the UK.
- Support to deliver: you'll be backed by colleagues across the UK and our team in India, so you're not doing it all alone.
- Room to grow: you'll have a clear path from Project Manager to Senior or Principal, plus support with APM, PMI or ICE membership and chartership.
- Flexible working: an inclusive culture and a real commitment to your development.
Work-life balance: WSP knows work is only one part of your life. Our hybrid working policy means you can work from home and also collaborate in our modern offices across the UK.
