The posting

📍 Ispra, Varese | 🏡 On-site at JRC Ispra | ⏱️ Full-time | 12-month contract

Building a sustainable future, together.

At WSP, we design the future of our communities. As one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms, we bring together expertise across transport and infrastructure, buildings, energy, environment, water and advisory. Across Central Europe, we combine local knowledge with international reach to deliver projects that create a positive, lasting impact for clients, communities and the environment.

This role supports operational coordination and control room activities within a regulated technical environment at JRC Ispra.

The opportunity

We are looking for a Control Room Assistant to support operational monitoring, coordination and documentation activities at JRC Ispra. You will help ensure information, events and operational requests are managed accurately in a structured, safety-focused environment.

How you will make an impact

· Operational monitoring: Support the monitoring of plant and infrastructure conditions through supervision systems, operational records and internal procedures.

· Control room information and records: Receive, record, update and route operational information, including requests, notifications, logbooks, databases and daily reports.

· Maintenance and activity coordination: Support planned and corrective maintenance by helping coordinate communications, documentation checks and activity follow-up.

· Site procedures and emergency support: Support communication between the Control Room and field teams, take part in operational briefings and follow applicable site procedures, including HSE and emergency processes.

The team around you

You will collaborate with facility supervisors, maintenance teams, technical leads, radiation protection specialists, JRC representatives and other site stakeholders.

The culture is structured, safety-focused and collaborative, with clear procedures and regular coordination across technical teams. This is an opportunity to build experience in a technical environment where precision, reliability and communication directly support safe operations.

What you will bring to the role

We focus on the essential qualifications, skills and experience needed for success, while welcoming different technical backgrounds and career paths.

· A high school diploma, preferably from a technical, professional or equivalent educational background. A degree is not required for this role.

· Previous experience in operational, administrative or coordination activities within industrial, infrastructure, plant, facility management or regulated environments.

· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital management systems, with the ability to update records, manage data, follow procedures and work accurately with operational documentation.

· English language knowledge is considered an advantage, together with any previous exposure to supervision systems, dispatching, control rooms, operation centers, HSE, radiation protection or plant monitoring.

· Accuracy, reliability, confidentiality, attention to detail, strong organization skills and the ability to communicate clearly within multidisciplinary teams.

You do not need to know everything from day one. What matters most is accuracy, reliability, willingness to learn and the ability to follow clear procedures in a technical environment.

· Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

· Meal vouchers and wellbeing benefits.

· Supplementary healthcare coverage.

· Professional registration support, where applicable.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
