The Senior Designer, Small Format is responsible for the design and execution of small-format printed and physical guest-facing products across the LA28 Hospitality program. Working within the established LA28 Hospitality creative vision, this role translates brand and experience strategies into thoughtfully designed, production-ready pieces that support the guest journey across hospitality venues and programs. The role may also support the development and execution of select uniform and apparel applications, working in partnership with the broader creative team to ensure consistency with the Hospitality visual identity.

The role requires a highly collaborative designer with strong graphic design and typography skills, a detailed understanding of print and physical product production, and the ability to carry work from concept and design development through artwork, proofing, fabrication, delivery, and Games-time execution.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Group Creative Director, the Senior Designer, Small Format partners with Creative, Production, Venue Development, Marketing, Operations, Interior Design, Environmental Design, Fabrication, and external agencies to develop and execute small-format design across LA28 Hospitality.

The successful candidate will design and manage a range of printed and physical products, ensuring each item is visually cohesive, functional, production-ready, and aligned with the overall hospitality experience. The role works across multiple venues, products, service levels, vendors, and production requirements while maintaining a high standard of craft and brand consistency.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Small Format Design Development

  • Design small-format printed and physical products from concept through final production.
  • Develop guest-facing collateral including menus, invitations, programs, cards, brochures, maps, schedules, information pieces, table materials, and other hospitality communications.
  • Design physical products and branded touchpoints such as credentials, badges, tags, stationery, packaging, keepsakes, gifts, premiums, tabletop pieces, and other guest amenities.
  • Translate the LA28 Hospitality visual identity into appropriate formats, scales, materials, and production methods while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Develop layouts, typography, hierarchy, iconography, color applications, image treatments, and graphic systems appropriate to each product and use case.
  • Create design concepts, iterations, mockups, and presentation materials that communicate the intended guest experience and physical outcome.
  • Design for both individual pieces and coordinated product families, ensuring consistency across related collateral and physical touchpoints.
  • Support uniform and apparel design applications as needed, including graphic placement, color application, trim/details, pattern or artwork development, and alignment with approved Hospitality brand guidelines.

Print & Production

  • Prepare accurate, production-ready artwork and mechanical files for print and physical fabrication.
  • Apply knowledge of paper stocks, finishes, binding, die cuts, folds, embossing, debossing, foiling, specialty printing, dimensional applications, and other relevant production techniques.
  • Work with printers, fabricators, suppliers, and production partners to develop samples, prototypes, proofs, and final products.
  • Review printer proofs, color proofs, material samples, prototypes, and pre-production samples for design accuracy and quality.
  • Manage artwork revisions and production changes while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and schedule.
  • Coordinate specifications, dimensions, quantities, file requirements, and production details with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Support sustainable material and production considerations where appropriate to the project.

Creative Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Environmental Design, Interior Design, Marketing, Production, Fabrication, Venue Development, Operations, and other creative teams.
  • Work within broader venue and hospitality design concepts to ensure small-format products feel integrated with the physical guest environment.
  • Partner with Art Directors and Creative leadership to interpret creative direction and develop solutions appropriate to specific venues, audiences, and hospitality service levels.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and production partners to maintain design intent from initial concept through final delivery.
  • Present concepts and design rationale clearly to internal stakeholders and incorporate feedback into design development.
  • Coordinate uniform/apparel design deliverables when assigned, including artwork development, reviews, approvals, samples, and production handoffs.

Project & Production Management

  • Manage multiple small-format design projects simultaneously across different venues, products, and deadlines.
  • Track design development, approvals, artwork, proofing, production, delivery, and installation milestones.
  • Maintain organized artwork files, specifications, production documentation, and asset libraries.
  • Identify production risks, communicate dependencies, and escalate issues that may affect quality, budget, or schedule.
  • Support onsite reviews, product inspections, punch lists, and Games-time creative oversight as required.
  • Work closely with Project Management to maintain accurate deliverables and support project documentation and billing requirements.

Quality & Brand Stewardship

  • Maintain a high level of craft, accuracy, typography, and attention to detail across all small-format deliverables.
  • Ensure products are consistent with approved LA28 Hospitality brand standards, creative direction, and venue-specific requirements.
  • Conduct detailed artwork checks for dimensions, bleed, color, typography, imagery, materials, finishing, and production specifications.
  • Review final physical products and identify opportunities for refinement before broader production or deployment.
  • Help establish repeatable standards, templates, specifications, and production approaches for small-format applications across the program.

Innovation

  • Explore innovative approaches to printed and physical guest-facing products that enhance the hospitality experience.
  • Research emerging print processes, materials, finishes, fabrication techniques, and sustainable production solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for small-format products to support storytelling, collectability, personalization, and guest engagement.
