The posting

WWF is a global environmental organization, working across more than 100 countries to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and nature. WWF’s Climate and Energy Practice has teams around the world working on projects and initiatives to reduce emissions and help people and nature adapt to a warmer world. We work with governments, cities, communities, businesses and industries, on diverse thematic areas like energy, science, policy and nature-based solutions, to accelerate climate action.

The Climate and Energy Practice (CEP) has an ambitious goal that, by 2030, an equitable and just transition is underway that limits warming to 1.5°C, protects people and nature, and builds a climate resilient future.

WWF works with businesses to accelerate credible science-based climate action aligned with a 1.5°C pathway while protecting and restoring nature. From shaping global standards to transforming high-emitting sectors and supporting companies on their net-zero journey, WWF helps drive real-world emissions reductions across the global economy. The Climate Business Area of Competence (AoC) is the strategic home for this global effort.

WWF Finland is looking for a Manager, Climate Business and Steel Decarbonization, for a 12-month fixed-term position

One of the high-emitting industries WWF works to decarbonize is steel, which accounts for roughly 8% of global GHG emissions. The WWF Steel Decarbonization Workstream (SDW) is the network's structure for driving decarbonization of the iron and steel sector. The SDW sits within the Climate Business AoC, but is technically hosted by WWF Finland, the national office of the WWF network. The total staff number of WWF Finland is about 75, and our modern and cozy office is situated in Helsinki. According to our staff policy, employees may work remotely for up to 80% of their working time.

The Manager is employed by WWF Finland and reports to the Head of Climate Program while working with global stakeholders and processes. This is a new position and due to funding arrangements, we offer a 12-month fixed-term contract. The monthly salary for this position is between EUR 3,100–3,700, depending on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The position is preferably full-time, with an average working day of 7 hours and 30 minutes, but minor reductions for individual reasons can be negotiated. We are ready to hire the Manager without delay but recognize that the person may need a transition period from present commitments.

Functions and deliverables

The Manager, Climate Business and Steel Decarbonization supports the delivery of WWF’s global climate and business agenda across two complementary areas of work.

Approximately 50% of the role supports the implementation of WWF’s Corporate Net Zero Ecosystem Strategy and the wider Climate Business Area of Competence (AoC). Working closely with the Head of Climate Business & Corporate Net Zero (situated in Germany), the role works across various areas of work, including network coordination and capacity-building, corporate climate standards, technical analysis, and corporate engagement.

Approximately 50% of the role supports WWF’s Steel Decarbonization workstream, contributing to WWF’s efforts to accelerate the transformation of the global steel sector in line with climate and nature goals. This new role takes on two of the workstream's four objectives — scaling corporate demand for lower-emission steel and coordinating the WWF network internally — working alongside the SDW Lead, who continues to lead the workstream's standards and climate diplomacy work.

Required qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Policy, Business, Economics or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, corporate sustainability, industrial decarbonization or a related field.
  • Experience working in an international, networked or multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience delivering projects involving multiple teams, organizations or geographies.

Required skills and competencies

  • Strong understanding of corporate climate action and decarbonization, including corporate target setting, implementation and relevant standards and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of industrial decarbonization and/or the steel sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to engage with complex technical and policy issues and translate them into clear recommendations and communications.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to take ownership of defined areas of work and coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliverables.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and the ability to facilitate meetings across time zones and working cultures.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in an international network environment. Embraces the WWF mission and values of the organization: Courage, Integrity, Respect & Collaboration.
  • The main working language is English, but sufficient Finnish is required, as it is the administrative and social language of WWF Finland.

Please apply by 23:59 EET on 25 October 2026 by filling the job application form in Finnish or English. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible, ideally in November 2026.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
