Assistant Dean of Students

‌

The Assistant Dean of Students provides institutional leadership for the University's student conduct processes, including direct oversight and management of all procedures, policies, and prevention initiatives related to student integrity and community expectations. This role is responsible for all aspects of the student conduct process—advising, training, and evaluating conduct and appeal panels; investigating significant allegations of student misconduct; facilitating high-level student conduct hearings; and reporting data trends to campus constituents as permitted by law. The Assistant Dean collaborates with key campus partners, including the Office of the General Counsel, the Chief Title IX Officer, and the Chief of Police, to develop and implement proactive, preventative programs and to manage high-level issues that impact community safety and University liability in the Jesuit Catholic tradition.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide leadership and direct oversight of all aspects of the student conduct process, including serving as an Administrative Conduct Officer, hearing cases at the highest level of student misconduct (including Title IX, bias, hazing, harassment, alcohol and other drug, and harm to self or others); coordinating conduct hearings, sanctions, and mandates; investigating and resolving student complaints related to the Student Handbook; serving as coordinator/advisor to the University Conduct Board; maintaining the Student Handbook; serving as primary Maxient administrator; managing the University’s Drug Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) responsibilities; completing disciplinary records requests; overseeing departmental administrative functions including budget management and student learning outcomes; and collaborating with campus partners to manage high-level issues impacting community safety and University liability.

2. Provide supervision and guidance to those who work within or support the student conduct process, including indirect supervision of the 5 Hall Directors (serving as the primary point of conduct-related responsibilities); oversight for the Student Rights Representative and Student Conduct Liaison; recruiting, selecting, and training the University Conduct Board and Integritas Advisors; facilitating annual training for Residence Life staff ( Hall Directors and Resident Assistants); and facilitating training for other members of the community on an as-needed basis.

3. Provide leadership and oversight of the mandatory leave of absence process, particularly for high-level cases, ensuring a fair and transparent process for students, and working closely with the Office of the General Counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and policies.

4. Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement prevention programming/social norm campaigns regarding high-risk alcohol and other drug use, hazing, and other behavioral issues to further a climate of integrity, respect, and productive community engagement; oversee facilitation of campus-based training to support compliance with state and federal laws (including Collin’s Law and DFSCA), the Clery Act, and FERPA.

5. Oversee the facilitation of campus-based training and coordination to support compliance with the Clery Act, FERPA, and other state and federal mandates; develop and implement student learning outcome assessment for the Dean of Students area, including Student Integrity and Care & Support Services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility for the direct implementation of student conduct interventions in a college or university environment

To ensure consideration, qualified/interested applicants must submit a cover letter and resume on Xavier University's website. Review of applications will start on November 2, 2026 and applications will be accepted until the position closes at the University’s discretion.

Candidates selected for the final stages of the interview process will be asked to provide the names and contact information of three professional references.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
