POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides support, instruction and motivation for participants on sports and recreation programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Plan and lead a participant sports and recreation activities, monitor field and/or gym.2. May keep score and officiate for games.3. Communicate with parents of the children as a YMCA representative.4. Have a working knowledge of the program’s schedule, routine and rules.5. Responsible for group’s safety and first aid. 6. Incorporate positive reinforcement and encourage teamwork with participants.7. Responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of facility, property, supplies and equipment.8. Follow the pick-up and check out procedures for youth participants.9. Model YMCA values.10. Report suspected child abuse to supervisor.11. Report any illness or injury of a child or staff as required by YMCA polices.12. Attend all staff meetings and training’s.13. Perform other duties as assigned. YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader):

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum age of 16. High school graduate or equivalent (GED), or enrolled in High School. Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), First Aid. Prefer 6 months to 1-year experience and/or working knowledge of sports/recreation. Must exhibit maturity and show a general ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, school staff and YMCA staff.
