The posting
York is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of spacecraft flight dynamics and mission analysis software across a range of commercial and national security missions. Level of expected ownership for responsibilities increases with engineer level. This individual will work within the Flight Dynamics team to define software architecture, develop and validate algorithms and models, support flight operations, and mentor junior engineers. Salary based on experience. Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance flight dynamics modeling and simulation tools in Python for use by internal engineering teams and other York software while maintaining an existing software suite. Contribute to systems engineering and software architecture, including defining interfaces, identifying technical requirements, and designing scalable solutions for flight dynamics applications. Translate designs, algorithms, and technical requirements into clean, readable code Maintain and improve existing flight dynamics and astrodynamics software suite while introducing new capabilities as mission needs evolve. Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and validation tests and create clear technical documentation for internal users and developers. Validate the accuracy, performance, and robustness of simulation and modeling tools. Perform orbit determination and orbit analysis including interpretation and assessment of results from flight dynamics tools. Support the deployment, integration, and operation of orbital dynamics and mission feasibility tools within ground station and mission operations environments. Performing orbit analysis, orbital determination and analysis functions Provide astrodynamics analytical support for mission design, trajectory analysis, spacecraft operations, and feasibility assessments. Collaborate with software, systems engineering, mission operations, and other technical teams to solve complex multidisciplinary problems. Define, develop, and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments supporting mission architecture development and day-in-the-life simulations across a variety of mission profiles.
