Location: Phoenix, Arizona MetroReports to: CEO & President, York Space Systems Inc.Role: Full-Time Onsite Senior Leader York Space Systems Inc. seeks a dynamic leader to join us as President and Chief Operating Officer of Solestial LLC, a pioneering solar energy company, which York acquired earlier this year. The position is onsite at Solestial’s headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Some travel will be required, primarily to York’s headquarters south of Denver, Colorado, as well as to customer and prospective customer sites. York was founded in 2012 to radically improve spacecraft affordability and reliability. Since that time York has transformed and enabled next generation space mission operations worldwide. Today it is one of the most innovative aerospace companies, specializing in both end-to-end customer solutions and the rapid production of spacecraft platforms. York offers a complete space segment solution, including spacecraft production, payload integration, system integration and test, launch services, ground segment services, and mission operations. York seeks an execution-oriented leader to spearhead Solestial’s next phase of evolution and growth. As the first company to engineer ultra‑durable, space‑rated solar solutions designed for mass production, Solestial is redefining the future of solar energy in space. Solestial’s proven, radiation‑self‑healing solar technology enhances York’s in-house portfolio of critical subsystems. As a wholly owned subsidiary of York Inc., Solestial will not only support and supply York, but will continue to supply advanced solar products to external customers. The President and COO will facilitate continued integration with York’s larger portfolio while simultaneously scaling Solestial’s business as a merchant supplier. Key Leadership Responsibilities
Lead growth, expand market share, build and enhance customer relationships. Strengthen and amplify Solestial’s brand as a premier provider of next generation space solar energy solutions. Oversee daily business functions and cross-functional teams to maximize productivity. Lead organizational scaling and operational discipline. Build and empower a high-performing team. Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and peak performance. Evolve technology, product reliability, and market readiness. Ensure adherence to space‑industry standards while maximizing cost-effectiveness and availability to defense and commercial customers alike. Develop and execute optimal supply chain strategy. In coordination with York subject matter experts, guide and execute Solestial’s technology roadmap. Oversee internal controls and regulatory compliance; manage risks and audits. Represent Solestial as a thought leader in the space‑tech community, advocating for sustainable, scalable power systems for the future of space. Own end-to-end P&L responsibility for Solestial, driving revenue targets and controlling operating expenses. Oversee rollup financial reporting in support of comprehensive quarterly and annual financial reports.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of experience as a senior executive and leader of teams. The ideal candidate will have proven success in oversight of manufacturing operations and furthering business growth. Experience in next generation space, aerospace, energy systems, or high‑growth deep‑tech desired. Demonstrated accomplishment scaling technology companies from early success to mature organizations. Strong understanding of space industry economics, customer ecosystems, procurement cycles, and regulatory frameworks. Experience capturing new business and developing and driving partnerships with space agencies and other defense and commercial customers. Ability to inspire business development, technical, and operations teams in a mission‑driven environment. Experiencing managing to a P&L, inclusive of budgeting, top-line revenue and margin accountability, and support of financial reporting requirements. Strong coordination and collaboration skills, as by leading a division of a larger company or intrapreneurship venture. Exceptional strategic thinking, communication skills, and operational leadership. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Active security clearance preferred, ability to obtain one required.
