Job Description

This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting industrial equipment and mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), and related equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

  • Detect and diagnose minor to major mechanical problems through inspection, observation, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble equipment components as needed.
  • Utilize hoists, cranes, chain falls, come-a-longs, hand tools, and power tools to perform maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and site procedures.
  • Conduct operational and diagnostic testing to verify equipment performance and reliability.
  • Clean, lubricate, and service machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and respond appropriately to alarms and system notifications.
  • Unload, inspect, transport, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Assist with equipment installations, repairs, and modifications.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties, including hosing down work areas, sweeping floors, and removing trash and debris.
  • Follow all supervisor instructions, site policies, and work procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Good reading comprehension and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Commitment to Zachry's core values, safety culture, and quality standards.
  • Ability to obtain site access, including successfully meeting criminal background check requirements.

Certifications/Licenses

  • None required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach overhead throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, elevated platforms, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grip, handle, and operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in various body positions for extended periods.
  • Capability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety-toed footwear, and respiratory protection when required.
  • Ability to safely work around moving equipment and industrial machinery.

Environmental Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed in an active industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wind, and precipitation.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and industrial odors.
  • May work in confined spaces and elevated work areas as required.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on business and maintenance needs.
  • Must comply with all site-specific safety, environmental, and security requirements.
