Company Description

Zayo provides mission-critical bandwidth to the world’s most impactful companies, fueling the innovations that are transforming our society. Zayo’s 141,000-mile network in North America and Europe includes extensive metro connectivity to thousands of buildings and data centers. Zayo’s communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access. Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.

Zayo is seeking a talented Senior Systems Administrator - Logical Inventory to join our growing Logical Inventory team. In this role, you'll be a key player in building, scaling, and automating the next generation of our network tooling infrastructure.

The Application Administrator is responsible for the administration, configuration, operational support and data integrity of Zayo’s logical network inventory application, Netcracker. The role supports the full application lifecycle, including configuration, production support, troubleshooting, testing, releases, upgrades, data quality and reconciliation. The Application Administrator works closely with Network Engineering, Functional Leads, Product Management, Infrastructure, Integration teams and Netcracker/vendor resources to maintain a stable, accurate and effective inventory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the Netcracker Resource Inventory application, including application configuration, reference data and administrative functions
  • Coordinate routine cadence with Netcracker and other vendors for product roadmaps, upgrades, defects and new functionality
  • Plan, coordinate, test and communicate application changes, patches and upgrades with the application business owner and technical stakeholders
  • Develop and execute use-case, regression and data-validation test plans and perform unit testing as needed
  • Triage production problems, investigate root causes and resolve or coordinate resolution of application, data and integration issues
  • Provide on-call support for production applications and participate in incident response and operational support activities
  • Support the integrity, completeness and accuracy of logical network inventory through SQL analysis, data validation, reconciliation and controlled data remediation
  • Support bulk inventory loads, migrations, transformations, and reconciliation activities
  • Identify and correct inventory discrepancies, missing relationships, duplicate records, stale data and other data-quality issues, with emphasis on sustainable root-cause resolution
  • Develop a deep understanding of Netcracker, supporting infrastructure, application integrations and network inventory data flows to effectively troubleshoot and improve the environment
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and runbooks, and provide support to other parts of the organization as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field, OR a minimum of six (6) years of experience supporting enterprise or packaged applications. Certification(s) are a plus
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across application, data and operational environments
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills, both oral and written
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities; this is a technical application administration and inventory management position, not a data entry position
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical teams, functional leads, subject matter experts and vendors
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and managing multiple operational priorities
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to analyze complex technical and data issues while protecting production inventory integrity
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions and engage leadership or subject matter experts when appropriate
  • Experience documenting and analyzing processes, procedures, application configurations and operational practices

Technical Skills

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in SQL is required, including analysis of complex datasets and data-quality issues
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Logical Inventory experience required (e.g. Netcracker, MetaSolv or comparable OSS/network inventory platforms)
  • Experience modeling network structures, resources, and relationships within a logical network inventory system, including network elements, interfaces, connectivity, services, and dependencies.
  • Ability to work in Linux environments is required
  • WebLogic Server administration experience
  • Experience troubleshooting application integrations, APIs and data flows between enterprise systems
  • Apache and web/application server experience
  • Python scripting or development experience for automation and operational tooling

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
