ABOUT ZOOMO
At Zoomo, our vision is to transition every commercial urban mile to light electric vehicles — to build cities that are quieter, cleaner and more equitable. We build the world's most durable utility e-bikes and the fleet software that keeps them on the road, and we service them through our own hubs.
Founded in Sydney in 2017, Zoomo now operates across Australia, the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Canada and the US, with a team of around 200 people from 45 nationalities. Our bikes and platform are the trusted fleet partner to major players in food, grocery and parcel delivery, including Uber Eats, DoorDash, Just Eat Takeaway, Deliveroo, Amazon, FedEx, Domino's, Pizza Hut, Glovo and Getir.
Expect to join a high-performing team that wants to lead the charge towards carbon-neutral cities — and a company that has gone from startup to multi-country operator faster than most. That transition is what this role is about.
THE ROLE
Madrid is our European hub, and this is an execution seat, not a reporting one. You'll make sure money leaves the business correctly and arrives where it should: entries posted properly, payments on time, balances reconciled, and spend that doesn't earn its keep questioned early rather than explained later.
You'll work with the Finance Lead, our hub managers and our external accountants in each market. You don't need to have done all of it before — you need to be the person who checks twice and says something when a number looks wrong.
ur processes are still being written in some places, especially across markets. You'll be the person who notices a gap and closes it, rather than waiting for someone to own it.
Responsibilities
- Accounting entries and ledger: post supplier and customer invoices, accruals, prepayments and intercompany recharges, and keep the ledger clean enough that month-end doesn't turn into a cleanup week.
- Fixed assets and fleet: record e-bike purchases, hub transfers and disposals, run monthly depreciation, and keep the asset register matching what is physically in the workshops.
- Payments and banking: run payment cycles across our markets, reconcile bank accounts on a fixed rhythm, and keep mandates and signatories current in every market and currency.
- Cost control: operate the approval matrix day to day, review card and expense spend monthly, kill duplicate subscriptions, and challenge hub-level costs without making operations slower.
- Close and reporting support: own the month-end checklist and reconciliations, and hand the Finance Lead variance data they can actually explain rather than a file to rework.
- Tax and compliance support: prepare the data behind IVA/VAT and withholding returns, work with our gestoría and external accountants in each market, and keep documentation audit-ready.
Requirements
Must have
- 2+ years in accounting or finance operations, with hands-on journal entries rather than review only
- Solid accounts payable and receivable, plus bank reconciliation you have owned end to end
- Working knowledge of an ERP or accounting system, and spreadsheets you can defend
- Fluent English, written and spoken, for work with suppliers, banks and colleagues across markets
- Accuracy under a close deadline, and the habit of documenting a posting so it survives an audit
- Discretion with bank access and confidential payment data
- Comfortable in a fast-changing business: you've worked where processes were still being written, and you wrote some of them yourself
Nice to have
- Experience in a scale-up or high-growth company
- Fixed asset or fleet accounting, including depreciation and disposals
- Multi-entity and intercompany experience, especially across the EU
- Spanish tax practice — IVA, retenciones, and the gestoría relationship
- Cost control in an operations-heavy business: fleet, retail, logistics or field service
- Audit or tax firm background
- ACCA, CIMA or CPA in progress, or Spanish
