The posting

Position Summary

The Light-Duty Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, vehicle inspections, and light mechanical repairs while maintaining Mosaic Auto Group’s standards for quality, safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role supports the service department by completing assigned services accurately and efficiently, identifying additional vehicle concerns, and communicating findings to the appropriate team members.

This position is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in their workmanship, follows established procedures, and is committed to delivering a positive customer experience. Experience in automotive maintenance and light mechanical repair is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the skills required for assigned services; developing technicians may be considered with appropriate training and supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform oil and filter changes, fluid maintenance, and manufacturer-recommended maintenance services.
  • Perform tire rotations, mounting, balancing, and approved tire repairs.
  • Inspect, service, and replace brake pads, rotors, and related components within established training and authorization.
  • Test and replace batteries and perform basic starting and charging system checks.
  • Replace filters, belts, hoses, bulbs, wipers, and other basic service components.
  • Perform approved light mechanical repairs, including basic steering and suspension component replacement, within demonstrated skill and management authorization.
  • Complete and upload video multipoint inspections, documenting tire tread depth, brake measurements, fluid conditions, filters, and accessible steering and suspension components.
  • Identify concerns requiring advanced diagnosis or repair and refer them to the appropriate technician.
  • Document findings and submit recommendations to the service advisor so parts availability and a complete quote can be confirmed before recommendations are presented to the customer.
  • Perform additional repairs only after documented customer approval.
  • Complete final quality checks, including fluid levels, leak checks, required torque specifications, and applicable maintenance resets.
  • Prepare vehicles for delivery or return to customers following completed maintenance.

Quality, Safety, and Documentation

  • Follow manufacturer recommendations, dealership procedures, and established safety standards.
  • Properly document all services performed, inspection findings, and recommended repairs.
  • Use shop equipment, tools, and protective equipment correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Notify the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or Service Advisor of any concerns requiring additional diagnosis or repair.
  • Ensure vehicles are handled carefully and protected from damage while in the technician’s care.

Teamwork and Customer Experience

  • Work collaboratively with service advisors, technicians, parts personnel, and management.
  • Complete assigned work within expected timeframes without sacrificing quality.
  • Communicate clearly when additional repairs, parts, or technical assistance are needed.
  • Support department goals for productivity, customer satisfaction, service retention, and efficient vehicle turnaround.
  • Participate in training and ongoing development to improve technical skills and service capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Automotive service experience preferred; entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude may be considered.
  • Basic understanding of automotive maintenance and vehicle systems.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as required for the position.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to work in an automotive service shop environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, tires, and automotive components within the physical requirements of the position
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment after appropriate training.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to shop safety policies.

Reasonable accommodations may be available for qualified individuals with disabilities, consistent with applicable law.

Performance Expectations

Success in this position will be measured by:

  • Quality and accuracy of completed maintenance services.
  • Productivity and efficiency in completing assigned work.
  • Accuracy and completeness of inspection and service documentation.
  • Adherence to safety procedures and dealership standards.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Teamwork, coachability, and willingness to support department goals.
  • Contribution to customer satisfaction and service retention.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
