The posting

Mobile Product Designer

4 – 6 years · Full-time · iOS & Android · Field-first

THE ROLE

Zuper is a field service management platform built for the trades — and our customers' teams run on mobile. They're at job sites, in trucks, in attics, making decisions with a phone in one hand and a clipboard in the other. We're looking for a designer who can own that platform entirely: building experiences that work in real-world conditions, not ideal ones. Glare, gloves, interrupted connectivity, and two-second attention spans are the actual design brief.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the end-to-end design of Zuper's mobile and tablet experiences across iOS and Android
  • Design for the field — job sites, vehicles, client walkthroughs — where context shifts fast and the UI has to keep up
  • Handle connectivity edge cases like a first-class design problem: offline states, sync flows, partial data, and graceful degradation
  • Use native platform capabilities purposefully — camera for estimates and documentation, GPS for job context, push for timely handoffs
  • Talk to our customers' teams regularly — understand their day in the field before you design for it
  • Build and extend the mobile component library within the Prelude design system
  • Prototype on real devices and test in real conditions — not just in Figma

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Mobile-native thinking

  • Strong knowledge of iOS and Android design conventions. Ability to decide when to follow platform patterns and when to deviate from them. Ability to justify design decisions.

Context-aware design

  • Design for one-handed phone usage. Consider gloves, bright sunlight, and split attention. Adapt the design to real-world working environments.

Connectivity & state design

  • Follow an offline-first design approach.
  • Design loading, syncing, stale-data, and failure states.
  • Ensure all application states are carefully considered, not just the ideal user journey.

Speed & efficiency

  • Create fast and efficient user flows.
  • Reduce the number of steps required to complete tasks.
  • Simplify interactions to improve customer productivity.

Tablet layouts

  • Design effective interfaces for tablet-sized screens.
  • Use split views, side panels, and denser information layouts.
  • Make deliberate use of tablet screen space instead of simply scaling up mobile layouts.

Customer obsession

  • Regularly interact with customers through calls.
  • Treat customers as active design partners.
  • Use customer conversations as research opportunities.
  • Understand customer needs and workflows before designing solutions.

Ownership

  • Independently identify mobile platform requirements.
  • Identify and resolve broken or inefficient user experiences.
  • Take ownership of the mobile experience without waiting for detailed specifications.

Experience

  • 4–6 years of product design experience.
  • Strong, demonstrable mobile design portfolio.
  • B2B or enterprise mobile product design experience is a strong advantage.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Field service or construction software
  • React Native familiarity
  • Mobile design system ownership
  • Accessibility on mobile
  • Trades industry experience
  • Prototyping in code

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
