The posting

We're looking for a talented, curious UX/UI Design Intern to join the Digital Design team at ZURU Group. You'll work on the websites and internal tools that support our global brands. This internship gives you hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, working alongside designers and developers to create digital experiences that are easy to use and look great.

WHO WE ARE

ZURU is a reimagination company. We look for categories that have stood still, then we build next-generation products and brands that set the new standard. ZURU Toys is reimagining play. ZURU Edge is reinventing everyday consumer brands. Rhodes Pet Science is reimagining pet science. ZURU Tech is leading the next building revolution.

ZURU started in 2003 with two brothers from New Zealand, and we're still founder-owned and operated today. Since then we've become the world's second-biggest privately held toy company, and nearly half of all Gen Y and Gen Z households with kids in the US own a ZURU product. Today we're 5,000 people in 34 offices, selling into more than 150 markets, backed by over 100 acres of fully automated manufacturing. And we're only getting started.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• You're currently studying, or have recently graduated, in UX/UI, interaction design, digital design or a similar design-led tertiary programme

• A portfolio that shows how you think: your process, the problem you were solving, and what you'd do differently, not just the finished screens

• Good working knowledge of Figma (components, auto layout, prototyping). Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus

• An understanding of UX fundamentals, including user flows, information architecture, wireframing, usability and accessibility (WCAG)

• A strong eye for visual design, especially layout, typography, colour and hierarchy

• Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain your design decisions and take on feedback

• The ability to work on your own and as part of a team, and to follow direction from design leads

• Strong attention to detail, tidy and well-organised files, and good time management

• A problem-solving mindset and curiosity about how people actually use products

• An added advantage: a basic understanding of HTML/CSS, experience with design systems, motion or micro-interaction design, or experience using AI tools in your design workflow

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• UI Design: Help the team design interfaces across a range of projects, including:

– Brand websites, landing pages and campaign microsites

– Responsive layouts for mobile, tablet and desktop

– Internal tools and dashboards

– Digital assets such as web banners, or email templates

– Presentations and design documentation in Figma

– Other tasks management may assign from time to time

• UX & Research: Help map user journeys, build sitemaps and wireframes, review competitors, and run or support simple usability tests

• Prototyping: Build interactive prototypes in Figma to test ideas and present concepts to stakeholders

• Design Systems: Work within existing component libraries and UI kits, and help maintain and extend them to keep things consistent across brands

• Conceptualisation: Brainstorm and develop design ideas with the team, and explore several directions before refining one

• Developer Handoff: Prepare clean, well-annotated files, specs and assets so the developers can build what was designed

• Collaboration: Work with developers, marketers, content creators and brand teams to understand requirements and deliver designs that meet business goals

• Accessibility & Quality: Design with accessibility in mind, and check builds against designs to make sure the quality holds up

• File Management: Keep Figma files, pages and assets organised and well named so the whole team can find what they need

• Feedback Incorporation: Be open to feedback, iterate quickly, and keep improving your designs based on critique and user insight

• Time Management: Manage several projects and deadlines at once, understand briefs clearly, and deliver work on time

• Research & Trends: Keep up with UX/UI trends, emerging patterns, tools and AI-assisted workflows, and bring new ideas to the team

WHO THRIVES AT ZURU

This isn't a 9-to-5. We move fast, think big and set goals most companies would call impossible, then go after them. The people who thrive here are entrepreneurs at heart. They own their work, chase bold ideas and never stop raising the bar.

At ZURU, you drive your career, and we give you the platform to take it as far as you can. There are opportunities here that you won’t find anywhere else, and you'll be surrounded by talented people who make things happen. We're a true meritocracy: we reward impact, not tenure.

HOW WE WORK

Big ideas happen when great people work side by side, so we're office-first by design. Being together means faster collaboration, sharper decisions and stronger teams, and it's where the real learning happens. Some flexibility may be available depending on the role, location and business needs, but most roles are office-based.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
