Medical Assistant with Limited Medical Radiography (LMR)

Louisville, KY | Full Time | 40 Hours/Week | First Shift

The Medical Assistant with Limited Medical Radiography (LMR) provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and the healthcare team. This position is responsible for obtaining pertinent patient information, assisting with the identification of patient needs, performing selected treatments and diagnostic procedures, and providing direct patient care to patients of all ages.

The Medical Assistant with LMR performs radiographic examinations, including chest and extremity X-rays, while maintaining radiation safety and ensuring high-quality imaging. The position functions as an integral member of the healthcare team with responsibilities appropriate to educational preparation, training, licensure/certification, and demonstrated competencies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform EKGs, venipunctures, pulmonary function testing, laboratory procedures, and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and patient information accurately, legally, and appropriately.
  • Perform radiographic examinations, including chest and extremity X-rays, and ensure image quality meets established standards.
  • Maintain radiation safety in accordance with departmental policies and applicable requirements.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock X-ray equipment and supplies.
  • Apply splints, braces, and wound dressings appropriately.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain patient rooms, equipment, and instruments while following appropriate infection control practices.
  • Monitor supplies and order or restock items as needed.
  • Prepare maintenance requests as necessary.
  • Protect and promote patient rights, maintain confidentiality, and provide friendly, helpful, and compassionate patient service.
  • Respond appropriately to patient emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow OSHA, departmental, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control activities and accurately document required information.
  • Communicate departmental, staffing, and operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assist with clerical duties as needed, which may include:Scheduling appointments Answering phones Filing and copying Completing forms and referrals Obtaining prior authorizations/precertifications Obtaining and updating patient demographic information Updating patient charts Ensuring fee tickets accurately reflect services performed Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Limited Medical Radiography (LMR) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of LMR experience required.
  • Direct patient care experience preferred.
