Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a founding engineer position at a small, fast-moving energy software company building an end-to-end platform for industrial battery storage. You will own core product decisions across the full stack, from real-time optimization algorithms to operator-facing dashboards, at a moment when your contributions will directly shape the company's trajectory.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Own and build backend services and optimization algorithms that process energy asset data in real time.

- Create and iterate on frontend dashboards that allow battery operators to monitor and control their assets.

- Design and scale cloud infrastructure to support a growing fleet of battery systems.

- Deploy production-ready optimizations and incorporate feedback from live deployments.

- Collaborate across functions to define product features and translate customer needs into engineering requirements.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Up to five years of professional experience, with a graduation date no earlier than 2023.

- Full-stack proficiency: React and TypeScript on the frontend (Next.js preferred) and Python on the backend.

- Experience with Tailwind CSS.

- Solid understanding of mixed-integer optimization or similar algorithmic problem-solving.

- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

- Background in a startup environment (small team, early stage) and comfort operating at high pace with limited structure.

- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering with strong academic results.

- Evidence of exceptional achievement beyond standard employment, such as founding experience or participation in highly selective programs or extracurricular groups.

- Fluent or near-fluent German, as the majority of customers communicate in German (hard requirement).

- Genuine interest in the energy sector and renewable energy technology.

- Experience deploying optimizations in production systems is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Salary range: EUR 70,000 to EUR 100,000 annually.

- Visa sponsorship is available.

LOCATION

On-site, five days per week in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. No remote arrangement is available for this role.
