Group/Division
The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) division delivers industry-leading metrology solutions essential to advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Its portfolio includes systems for measuring film thickness, critical dimensions, composition, and resistivity—key to developing and scaling next-gen IC processes. FaST partners closely with customers from early R&D through high-volume production, ensuring performance and process alignment.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Development of leading-edge technology to advance KLA’s metrology systems with a focus on light sources
- Drive system characterization and error budget creation/analysis
- Derive clear actions to improve module and system performance
- Hands-on laboratory work to build, run and iterate complex optical setups
- Support in‑house production and system integration; support customers and suppliers with technical feedback
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams (optics, mechanics, electronics) in an international environment
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or PhD) in Physics / Optical Engineering or a comparable technical field recommended
- 3+ year’s of relevant experience in system development and experimental engineering
- Background in plasma or laser physics is highly beneficial
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB / Python)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset; ability to turn complex data into decisions
- Sense of urgency – strong desire for short time to result
- Confident communication skills in English; comfortable working across cultures and disciplines
- Occasional domestic and international travel, including to the United States, may be required as part of this role (approx. 10–15%)
- EU work permit required
