IRC Hellas is implementing the EU-funded‑ educational project “Kids4EU – Democracy Starts Here: Kids Uniting for a Brighter EU Future”, a two-‑year initiative running from February 2026 to January 2028. The project promotes civic education and EU values, such as democracy, equality, and human rights, among children and adolescents aged 6 to 18. Through creative and participatory methodologies, the project will be delivered in Athens and selected remote areas of Greece. Activities will include storytelling workshops, interactive exhibitions, and arts-based‑ learning initiatives conducted in schools, cultural spaces, and public venues. The project aims to strengthen civic literacy, encourage dialogue between children and policymakers, and ensure that young voices actively contribute to shaping Europe’s democratic future.

This position has an end date of January, 31, 2028.

Background

IRC Hellas is seeking two (2) Consultants to support the design and facilitation of selected educational and creative activities under the project. The Consultants will primarily contribute to the development and delivery of participatory educational methodologies, creative workshops, arts-based activities, and storytelling sessions, while IRC Hellas will lead overall project coordination, participant recruitment, liaison with schools and municipalities, event organization, reporting, and collection of project documentation.

The Consultants will support activities under:

• WP6: Storytelling activities for children aged 6–12 promoting EU values and democracy
• WP7: Interactive activities celebrating cultures from Europe and around the world
• WP9: Interactive workshops promoting multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, and EU values
• WP14: Child-led advocacy campaigns
• WP15: Activities supporting children and young people to present their views to policymakers
• WP17 (Educator Field Visit to Denmark), participation might be required.
• WP18 support in the design and implementation of Kids4EU final conference,

Key Responsibilities

Educational Design and Facilitation

• Design and facilitate age-appropriate, participatory educational activities for children and adolescents aged 6–18.
• Develop and deliver storytelling sessions, creative workshops, arts-based activities, and interactive learning experiences that promote EU values, democracy, inclusion, equality, respect, cultural diversity, and active citizenship.
• Support the adaptation of educational materials and methodologies to different age groups and learning contexts.
• Facilitate discussions and reflection activities that encourage empathy, critical thinking, intercultural dialogue, and understanding of diversity.
• Lead the creative and artistic components of advocacy activities, including artwork, exhibitions, visual storytelling, comics, creative campaigns, and other participatory formats.
• Ensure activities are inclusive, engaging, and accessible to children from diverse backgrounds, including migrant, Roma, refugee, and other marginalized communities.

Specific Work Package Contributions

WP6 – Storytelling Activities (August 2026 – January 2027)

• Design and facilitate storytelling sessions and creative follow-up activities based on Tales from Home and other educational materials.
• Deliver activities in primary schools and municipal libraries across Attica, Koropi, Antiparos, Drama, and other agreed locations.
• Support inclusion of children from remote and underserved communities.
• Work alongside IRC Hellas, which will lead coordination with schools, scheduling, participant registration, logistics, and reporting.

WP7 – Interactive Cultural Activities (August 2026 – January 2027)

• Design and facilitate activities linked to key international observances, including the International Day of Democracy, International Day of Peace, Human Rights Day, and International Migrants Day.
• Deliver intercultural and creative activities such as storytelling, cultural exchange sessions, music and arts workshops, puppet theatre, and similar participatory methods.
• Coordinate activity delivery with IRC Hellas and the lead partner HCM regarding timelines and implementation.

WP9 – Diversity, Inclusion, and EU Values Workshops (February 2027 – May 2027)

• Facilitate workshops focused on:
• Democracy, participation, and human rights
• Solidarity, respect, and cooperation
• Multiculturalism, anti-racism, and anti-discrimination
• Use participatory methodologies that encourage teamwork, reflection, dialogue, and critical thinking.

WP14 – Advocacy Training and Child-Led Campaigns (June 2027 – November 2027)

• Cofacilitate workshops supporting children and young people to understand advocacy, participation, and civic engagement.
• Support participants in transforming their ideas into creative advocacy products and campaigns.
• Lead the artistic and creative dimensions of campaign development, including visual materials, exhibitions, storytelling products, artwork, and other age-appropriate advocacy tools.
• Work collaboratively with IRC Hellas, which will oversee coordination, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and overall campaign implementation.

WP15 – Children Present Their Views to Policymakers

• Support preparation of child-friendly participatory methods that enable children and young people to communicate their perspectives and recommendations.
• Assist in designing creative presentation formats and participatory activities for engagement with policymakers and stakeholders.

Documentation and Safeguarding

• Provide brief activity summaries and attendance information to support IRC Hellas reporting requirements.
• Support collection of agreed Means of Verification (MoVs) where required during activities.
• Comply with IRC safeguarding, child protection, and safety policies at all times.
• Immediately report any safeguarding concerns according to IRC procedures.

Compensation: (EUR 765 - EUR 882 per month). Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements
