About the role
As a Software Engineer II, you'll be empowered to develop reliable, scalable solutions that solve real-world problems for customers, with the knowledge that your work has a direct positive impact. You'll face engaging technical challenges as we continue to scale, and be part of a team that owns its services end-to-end - collaborating closely with product, design, and other engineers as you build depth in your domain.
This role is part of our Best Fit job match program: we have a variety of Software Engineering roles, and by applying to this role you'll be considered for multiple roles across our engineering teams. We want to set you up for success, so we assess your capabilities and then match you to the best team.
In this role you can expect to
- Design, build, and maintain backend services in a large-scale SaaS platform, including distributed systems and data stores.
- Take ownership of features from inception to delivery, working directly with stakeholders, product, and design.
- Use a tech stack that includes Golang, AWS, PostgreSQL, and Kafka, alongside datastore design, data warehousing, and distributed systems.
- Participate actively in code review, testing, and the continuous improvement of how the team works.
- Apply a practical understanding of AI technologies, identifying opportunities to bring automation or intelligence into feature development.
- Bring a user-centric mindset, ensuring engineering decisions support better user experiences — even in platform-facing work.
- Work in a hybrid environment, including time at our HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney.

You may be a great fit for this role if you have some of the following
- Solid experience in a back-end programming language and framework, with growing expertise in building scalable systems; prior experience with Golang is highly desirable.
- Practical experience owning and delivering software features end-to-end in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and common data stores like PostgreSQL.
- An understanding of distributed systems concepts and datastore design principles.
- A user-centric approach and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.
- Experience working in fast-paced, SaaS-oriented teams and environments.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, and a willingness to take on problems outside your immediate ticket.
- Use of AI coding assistants as a normal part of your workflow, with the judgement to critically evaluate what they produce.
