At Hitachi Energy, we are building and expanding our ES Regional Office (ESOPC) in Madrid, Spain, within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe (HBUEU).

In this role, you will actively participate in designing and implementing control and protection systems for Hitachi Energy’s Power Conversion products and applications.

At our competence center “Power Converter Solutions”, we have a leading position in the development, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of high-power electronic converters mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply systems. We also provide solutions for hydro pump stations and grid interties. With the help of our highly efficient converters, we contribute to the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid of tomorrow, while also increasing the overall system efficiency.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Design and program control and protection software for power converter systems.
  • Define technical requirements and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Test and validate control systems in simulation, real-time environments, and hardware.
  • Support commissioning activities and customer training—both remotely and on-site.
  • Maintain software and documentation for control and protection systems.
  • Contribute to technical discussions during concept and tender phases.
  • Enjoying global traveling and commissioning (At least 15% of the working time)

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Up to 5 years of relevant experience in control systems, power electronics, or similar.
  • Familiarity with tools like Matlab Simulink, HiDraw, or Compact Control Builder.
  • Willingness to travel - commissioning and On-site experience in an electrical environment is highly welcomed.
  • Fluent in English. (Other European languages are a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work collaboratively.
