The Editorial Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day editorial operations of British GQ across print, digital, social and video. Working closely with the Global Director of Editorial Operations and Head of Editorial Content, they will oversee budgets, workflows, production and editorial systems, ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong financial and organisational skills, excellent judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Editorial Operations Manager will work closely with teams across Finance, Business Affairs, Legal, People, Procurement and Production, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage British GQ’s editorial budgets across print, digital, social and video.
  • Partner with the Global Director of Editorial Operations and British GQ’s Head of Editorial Content on forward planning, content scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Oversee editorial workflows and production processes across print issues, supplements and major projects, ensuring work is appropriately resourced, legally sound and delivered to agreed timelines.
  • Manage Content Planner and other editorial systems, ensuring information is accurate and consistently maintained.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor onboarding and invoice processes, ensuring spend is appropriately approved, coded and processed.
  • Partner with Business Affairs and Legal on contributor agreements, rights, permissions and editorial compliance, including tracking global rights and identifying opportunities for content sharing across the GQ network.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day operational contact for the British GQ editorial team, providing guidance on company processes and resolving operational issues.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows and ways of working.
  • Partner with the People Team and editorial leadership on recruitment, onboarding and people-related issues.
  • Support internal communications and the operational delivery of key GQ events and projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations colleagues across GQ and Condé Nast, sharing best practice and supporting cross-market and global initiatives.
  • Deputise for the Global Director of Editorial Operations on relevant UK operational matters where appropriate.
