Position Summary

The Staff Accountant, Revenue & Ticketing will support revenue accounting, ticketing accounting, or a combination of both based on the assigned event portfolio. The role will connect contracts, customer activity, operational ticketing data, and vendor support to the general ledger, helping ensure event revenue, ticket inventory, ticket costs, and related balance-sheet accounts are complete, accurate, and supported.

The position will partner closely with Revenue Operations, Ticketing and Commercial Strategy, Event Finance, Accounts Payable, and Controllership. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-volume transactional data, investigating differences across systems, and translating operational activity into reliable accounting entries and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly revenue accounting schedules and journal entries, including event revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, contract assets or liabilities, customer credits, reclassifications, foreign currency impacts, and intercompany activity, as applicable to the assigned portfolio.
  • Apply established revenue-recognition policies to customer and event activity, validate that recognized and deferred amounts are supported, and escalate unusual contracts or transactions for technical accounting review.
  • Prepare ticket-inventory and ticket-cost schedules, including prepaid ticket rights, inventory consumption, cost of sales, accrued ticket costs, returns, cancellations, credits, fees, and other ticket-related balances, as applicable.
  • Reconcile revenue and ticketing data across contracts, booking and ticketing platforms, customer activity, vendor statements, procurement and accounts-payable records, event schedules, and the general ledger by event, legal entity, currency, and reporting period.
  • Validate ticket quantities and values from initial load through sale, allocation, transfer, use, return, or expiration, and confirm that downstream revenue and cost accounting is consistent with the underlying activity.
  • Maintain event-level rollforwards and balance-sheet reconciliations and support monthly and final event closeouts by investigating variances and confirming that revenue and ticket costs are reflected accurately in event gross profit.
  • Perform and document assigned control procedures over revenue and ticketing completeness, accuracy, valuation, cutoff, and reconciliation, and provide traceable support for management review, internal audit, external audit, and SOX testing.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations, Ticketing, Event Finance, and Accounts Payable to resolve missing support, incorrect system activity, duplicate or unmatched transactions, and other data-quality issues before close deadlines.
  • Identify recurring exceptions and help improve revenue- and ticketing-to-accounting workflows, system interfaces, reconciliation tools, procedures, and cross-functional ownership; support new event launches and system implementations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track candidate preferred.
  • Two or more years of accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.
  • Experience with revenue accounting, inventory, cost accounting, event accounting, ticketing, hospitality, media, sports, or another high-volume transactional environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition, balance-sheet substantiation, cutoff, and financial-control requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including large-data analysis, lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliation techniques; experience with NetSuite and ticketing, procurement, or reconciliation systems is a plus.
  • Ability to trace transactions across systems, identify root causes, document conclusions, and drive exceptions to resolution through strong cross-functional communication and sound judgment.
  • Highly organized and dependable under tight close timelines, with strong attention to detail and an ownership mindset.

What Success Looks Like

  • Assigned revenue and ticketing schedules are fully reconciled to NetSuite, supported, and submitted on time each month.
  • Event-level revenue, ticket costs, balance-sheet reconciliations, and control documentation are complete and review-ready, with no unresolved differences carried into event closeout.
  • Controls are consistently monitored and considered for potential modifications as needed, with monthly documentation of controls performed during month-end accounting close activities.
