Position Overview:
Wentworth Institute of Technology seeks a student-centered Career and Workforce Pathways Specialist to support learners enrolled in the Massachusetts Board-approved Journeyman Electrical (JE) Program and the forthcoming Climate Critical Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program (CCEPA). This role will provide individualized career advising, workforce readiness support, employer engagement, and placement coordination to help students successfully transition into apprenticeship programs, employment, and continued education pathways aligned with apprenticeship to journeyman-level electrician roles and Massachusetts climate and clean energy related workforce needs.
The Career and Workforce Pathways Specialist will play a key role in advancing equitable access to high-quality careers in the electrical and high-performance building sectors by supporting individuals who may face barriers to workforce entry, including early-career learners, career changers, and students from low-income or underserved communities. The position aligns directly with Wentworth’s workforce development mission and MassCEC Equity Workforce Grant objectives.

About the Programs:
Wentworth’s Journeyman Electrical Program is a Massachusetts Board-approved electrical education pathway designed to prepare students for licensure and long-term careers in the electrical industry. The Climate Critical Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a new two-stage workforce initiative focused on preparing learners for careers in electrification, high-performance buildings, renewable energy systems, and EV infrastructure.
Position Details:
This position is a part time, salaried position, with a 15-hour work schedule.
Please note that this position is also contingent on the availability of external funding and is subject to annual performance reviews and funding renewals. The incumbent may be separated from employment with notice if funding is reduced or discontinued. This position is currently funded with an anticipated end date of December 2028.
At this time, the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.
The expected yearly salary range for this position is $35,100 which reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this part-time role.
Please note that this is a non-benefits eligible position.
