The posting

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Air Defense team develops, integrates, and fields autonomous systems that find, track, and defeat threats in the sky while keeping operators in control of engagement decisions. The team brings together Roadrunner, Sentry, Anvil, Pulsar, and Wisp with existing and third-party sensors and effectors through Lattice, creating a software-enabled family of systems for the modern battlespace. As control of the air becomes more contested, these networked capabilities give warfighters the awareness and response options needed to protect forces against rapidly evolving UAS threats.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are hiring a Systems Engineer for Anduril's air defense work with the U.S. Army. The portfolio fields counter-UAS systems that bring together Pulsar, Wisp, and other Anduril and third-party sensors, effectors, and communications, and they have to work wherever the Army needs them. Some are deployable systems, held ready and set up on short notice at a site the customer chooses. You will start on one of those, taking it from requirements and design reviews through integration, validation with the government, and sustainment, and your scope will follow where the portfolio needs engineering over time.

You own a defined part of the system's technical scope and the evidence that it works, inside a technical baseline set by the portfolio's technical lead. In practice that means requirements and verification, integration and calibration, the procedures and training material field teams depend on, and engineering support once the system is fielded. The role is hands-on. You will spend real time with the hardware: configuring and integrating it, running calibration and test at the range, diagnosing problems from logs and data, and traveling to the site when a problem needs someone at the equipment. Fielded systems often have to work with no engineer on site, so much of the job is making sure the procedures and configurations you write hold up in someone else's hands.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own requirements and verification for your scope. Write and maintain the requirements and verification records, tie each requirement to a test, and produce and defend your portion of formal design reviews. Present your results in customer and program reviews.

Integrate, calibrate, and test the hardware. Configure and integrate systems before they ship, and run them through burn-in, calibration, and test at the range. Keep interface documentation matched to what the hardware actually does.

Equip the people who run it. Write the site requirements, setup and calibration procedures, checklists, and training content that field teams and operators use. Keep fielded systems ready through maintenance, software updates, and configuration tracking, so what deploys matches what was validated.

Support the system in the field. Root-cause issues from logs and data, lead technical recovery for your scope, and travel to the site when the problem needs hands on the equipment. Bring what you learn back to the product teams that can fix it.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering, science, or other technical degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of systems engineering or related engineering experience on hardware and software systems
  • Ownership of a subsystem, interface, or other defined technical scope through verification and fielding, with accountability for whether it actually worked, not only for its design artifacts
  • Ability to explain the architecture and interfaces of a subsystem you owned, and a record of keeping interface documentation consistent with observed behavior
  • Ability to turn a defined scope into clear requirements and verification steps, then plan and run the test that shows it works
  • Experience debugging on real hardware and real data, including root-causing field issues with limited supervision
  • Experience presenting your own results to a technical working group or customer, and producing your portion of a formal design review
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time on average, with periods of up to 50% during test events and deployments
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Experience with deployable or expeditionary systems that are set up, calibrated, and torn down in the field
  • Experience writing procedures, checklists, or training material that operators or technicians executed successfully without you present
  • Depth in at least one of: radar, passive RF detection, electro-optical and infrared sensors, tactical radios and networking, or command and control software
  • Experience sustaining equipment held in reserve or storage, including preventive maintenance, software currency, and battery health
  • Experience developing and executing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to achieve and maintain an Authority to Operate (ATO) for a fielded system
  • Experience delivering counter-UAS, air defense, or force protection capability to a U.S. Army customer
  • Comfort on the Linux command line, and with Python for parsing and visualizing test data
  • Prior military service, particularly in Army air defense or an expeditionary unit

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
