Job Description
Our Story:
We’re excited to share that our business has recently joined the a2 Milk Company family. Formerly known as Yashili Dairy NZ Ltd, we are now operating as a2 Nutritionals NZ Limited, based in Pokeno.
The a2 Milk Company, driven by science and a pioneering spirit, disrupted the dairy and infant milk formula industry. Our vision is to create an A1-free world where dairy nourishes all people and our planet.
The a2 Milk Company seeks to achieve this through the naturally occurring a2 Milk® difference and by bringing a more sustainable approach to dairy.
About the role:
We’re looking for a practical and people-focused Health, Safety & Injury Management Coordinator to join our team at our Pōkeno manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll help create a safe and healthy workplace, with a strong focus on injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work coordination. You’ll work closely with team members, frontline leaders and external providers to support recovery, manage risks and strengthen our health and safety practices across the site.
Working alongside the Health, Safety & Environment Manager, you’ll also support incident investigations, health and safety systems, reporting, worker engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
More specifically, you will be involved in:
- Coordinating workplace injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work plans, supporting team members through recovery.
- Working with leaders, ACC and health providers to develop suitable duties and support safe, sustainable returns to work.
- Providing practical health and safety support across manufacturing, warehousing and engineering, including hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Supporting incident investigations, health and safety systems, reporting, audits and corrective actions.
- Supporting safety inductions, toolbox talks, worker engagement and critical risk controls.
- Maintaining accurate health and safety records and identifying injury trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
What you will bring:
- Experience coordinating workplace injuries, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
- A practical understanding of health and safety requirements and risk management in an operational environment.
- Experience working with ACC, medical professionals or rehabilitation providers.
- Strong communication, documentation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities.
- Confidence supporting incident investigations, health and safety reporting and corrective actions.
- A high level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, dairy or FMCG would be an advantage.
- A Level 4 or higher qualification in Workplace Health and Safety, or equivalent, is preferred.
