As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti. We are seeking an East and Southern Africa Technical Coordinator to strengthen community-led adolescent health and nutrition solutions across the region. Program Context The World Bank GFF × CIVIC Platform brings together the Global Financing Facility and CIVIC: The Civil Society and Social Innovation Alliance. Its second pillar, Scaling Community-Led Solutions for Adolescent Health and Nutrition, supports civil society organizations (CSOs) and youth-led organizations (YLOs) to develop, evaluate, and integrate effective solutions into national policies and systems. The project emphasizes local leadership, evidence generation, and sustainable improvements in adolescent health and nutrition. Direct service delivery is outside the project’s funding scope. About the Role Reporting to the Project Director, the ESA Technical Coordinator will provide day-to-day technical coordination and implementation support across country teams and implementing partners. The role will strengthen the integration of adolescent health and nutrition within broader food security and resilience initiatives, build partner capacity, and translate program evidence into policy and practice. This position is ideal for a public health or nutrition professional with experience supporting local organizations, coordinating technical programs, and engaging government and development partners in resource-constrained settings. This is a grant-funded project and subject to grant funding, with an anticipated end date of July 31, 2028. Key Responsibilities

Coordinate technical inputs and implementation support for adolescent health and nutrition activities across East and Southern Africa. Support nutrition-sensitive approaches across agriculture, livelihoods, school nutrition, maternal and child health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene programs. Assess partner capacity and provide tailored mentoring, coaching, and training to strengthen program design and implementation. Coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting, using monitoring, evaluation, and learning findings to guide program improvements. Translate evidence into policy briefs, learning materials, and other products that support decision-making and the expansion of effective approaches. Work with government ministries, technical working groups, GFF platforms, and World Bank country teams to strengthen coordination and policy engagement. Support CSO and YLO advocacy and collaborate with ENN and consortium partners on policy dialogue, knowledge sharing, and regional learning. Promote technical quality and compliance with project guidelines, donor requirements, and GFF CIVIC standards. Support the integration of social protection and Graduation Approach activities, incorporating protection considerations throughout program design and implementation.

Who We’re Looking For Required qualifications and experience:

Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or a related health field. At least seven years of professional experience planning, implementing, and managing adolescent health and nutrition programs in low-resource settings, particularly within food security and resilience initiatives. Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance and capacity-building support to government institutions, community stakeholders, and local organizations. Experience working with donor regulations, standards, and reporting requirements, including GFF CIVIC or comparable frameworks. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, high-quality reports for diverse audiences. Ability to adapt programs and strategies to settings with limited infrastructure, staffing, and access to services. Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience influencing national health or nutrition policies through technical working groups, policy platforms, or donor coordination mechanisms. Experience in advocacy, partnerships, and localization. Proficiency in additional local languages.

Why Join Us? Join Action Against Hunger to help strengthen adolescent health and nutrition through locally led solutions. You will work alongside country teams, civil society organizations, youth leaders, and technical partners to turn evidence into practical improvements in programs, policies, and systems.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
