Job Description:

The Quality Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and improving HVAC systems and components to meet performance, quality, reliability, and cost objectives. This role contributes to organizational objectives by independently executing engineering projects, supporting product development initiatives, and solving complex technical challenges. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, reliable, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in advancing product performance, supporting innovation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Duties:

  • Design and develop HVAC components, assemblies, and systems to meet performance, quality, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and evaluations to support product design and development efforts.
  • Create, review, and maintain technical drawings, specifications, test plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and product development teams to ensure successful product execution.
  • Lead assigned engineering projects and deliver solutions within established schedules and project objectives.
  • Support prototype development, testing, validation, and implementation of new products and product improvements.
  • Investigate product performance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support laboratory testing and validation activities.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and product performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to entry-level engineers and technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering, product development, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field,
  • Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in HVAC, manufacturing, or industrial equipment design environments.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, analysis, and technical evaluations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting product development and product lifecycle management activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and operational teams.
  • Proficiency with engineering and standard business software applications.

  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Use of fine motor skills for computer work, technical documentation, engineering analysis, and testing activities.
  • Ability to remain focused and productive in a deadline-driven environment.

Work Environment:

  • Perform work primarily in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
  • Regular collaboration with engineering, production, quality, and product development teams.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial conditions.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required when visiting manufacturing or testing areas.
