POSITION OVERVIEW

Abacus is seeking an experienced F5 Consultant to provide high-priority, on-demand technical support during critical dress rehearsal simulations, cutover/go-live phases, and post-go-live hypercare. You will work closely with network, application, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless traffic routing, resolve real-time connectivity and configuration issues, and maintain high availability across all F5 infrastructure components.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an F5 Consultant, you will be responsible for:

  • Dress Rehearsal Support: Providing live on-call standby support during simulated go-live events to test and validate system behavior.
  • Traffic & Routing Optimization: Diagnosing and resolving traffic flow issues across Virtual IPs (VIPs), pools, and backend nodes while modifying routing logic, traffic distribution methods, and virtual server configurations in real-time based on test outcomes.
  • Health Monitoring & Validation: Performing hands-on configuration and validation of health monitor responses and backend server availability across environments.
  • SSL/TLS & Profile Management: Supporting SSL/TLS certificate deployments, offloading, or renewals, and fine-tuning persistence profiles and load-balancing algorithms to mirror expected production behavior.
  • End-to-End Troubleshooting: Diagnosing connectivity between F5 infrastructure, external systems, APIs, and firewalls, while thoroughly documenting any unexpected behavior.
  • Go-Live Cutover Oversight: Delivering critical real-time technical oversight during the production go-live cutover to ensure seamless operation of F5 configurations and rapid resolution of emergent incidents.
  • Post-Go-Live Support (Hypercare): Delivering dedicated post-go-live hypercare support to monitor environment stability and remediate residual performance or routing issues.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with network, application, and client teams to ensure clear communication and documentation of incident resolutions, configuration tweaks, and test outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Hands-on F5 BIG-IP Pool Management: Proven hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP health monitoring and pool management, going well beyond conceptual knowledge.
  • F5 LTM & GTM / DNS Expertise: Proven experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP LTM (VIPs, pools, nodes, health monitors, persistence profiles, SSL/TLS profiles) as well as practical experience in GTM / DNS and global traffic management configuration.
  • HA Clustering & Failover: Hands-on experience with High Availability (HA) clustering and failover configuration to maintain resilient, high-availability infrastructure.
  • Network & Security Integration: Strong understanding of end-to-end traffic flow, routing logic, API integrations, and firewall interactions.
  • Consulting & Stakeholder Management: Strong client-facing consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills, given the consulting nature of the engagement.
  • Troubleshooting: Rapid diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities for live environment issues across network and application tiers.
  • Availability & Strict SLA Commitment: Strict commitment to nighttime/early morning support hours (3:30 AM to 7:00 AM PKT) and extended pre-check periods, with a guaranteed 15-minute response time during agreed standby and go-live windows.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to deliver clear, professional documentation of incident resolutions, configuration tweaks, and dress rehearsal outcomes.

PREFERRED / NICE TO HAVE

  • Professional F5 certifications (e.g., F5-CA, F5-CTS LTM / GTM).
  • Exposure to client-facing consulting or professional services environments.
  • Experience with enterprise cutovers, go-live simulations, and hypercare support models.
