Job Description

The Associate Director, Integrated Market Insights, is a strategic role in the US APEX Immunology organization, responsible for leading market insights to support our Gastroenterology franchise.

The individual in this role will serve as a trusted advisor to brand leadership to develop a holistic understanding of brand performance, customers, and the evolving marketplace. The Associate Director will lead market research initiatives while partnering closely with APEX analytics and CI functions to synthesize multiple sources of information into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that inform brand strategy, tactical execution, and performance optimization. The role will also champion responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve the speed, efficiency, and impact of insights generation and enable new approaches to solving business questions.

The Associate Director will also manage and develop a small team, coaching direct reports and fostering their continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the market insights lead for the designated therapeutic area and serve as a trusted advisor to brand leadership, guiding commercial strategy and tactical decision-making through a deep understanding of customers, the market, and brand performance.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, providing ongoing feedback, professional development, and opportunities for growth.
  • Create, maintain, and ensure timely execution of market research and insights plans aligned with brand strategy and evolving business needs.
  • Apply deep expertise in custom qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, effectively managing suppliers and stakeholders while independently leading research programs that deliver compelling strategic and tactical insights.
  • Lead the insight discovery process to uncover motivating customer insights and translate them into clear business implications and opportunities.
  • Integrate primary research with secondary data, behavioral analytics, market and competitive intelligence, and other internal and external data sources to develop a comprehensive view of the business.
  • Partner closely across APEX to conduct thoughtful synthesis across data and insights, connecting the what, why, and what next behind brand performance and marketplace dynamics.
  • Proactively identify research and analytics opportunities and knowledge gaps to ensure business decisions are informed by the most current, objective, and comprehensive understanding of customers and the market.
  • Contribute to performance measurement and business reviews by integrating customer insights and marketplace context with relevant performance indicators to identify opportunities to accelerate brand performance.
  • Collaborate with and influence brand teams, agencies, and cross-functional partners to translate insights into strategies and actions that drive greater business outcomes.
  • Inform the brand planning process through a deep understanding of the patient journey and stakeholder influences, identifying moments of meaning, opportunities to enhance the patient experience, and priorities for closing critical insight gaps.
  • Participate actively in the creative development process, informing creative briefs, concept development, and assessment by representing the voice of the customer.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of market and brand performance, competitive dynamics, healthcare environmental influences, and key industry developments, and proactively communicate implications to stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of industry secondary data and syndicated sources, including their strengths and limitations, and use these sources alongside primary research to develop integrated insights.
  • Bring curiosity and openness to new research, data, and analytic approaches and continuously expand the insights toolkit to better address evolving business questions.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to accelerate research, synthesis, and insight generation; improve efficiency and speed; and identify innovative ways to enhance the quality and business impact of the team’s work, while ensuring responsible and compliant use.
  • Collaborate across APEX and other cross-functional partners to develop and communicate a holistic perspective on the factors influencing commercial performance.
  • Ensure all market research and insights activities are conducted in accordance with financial and ethical compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree required; advanced degree (MA, MS, MBA, or PhD) preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant market research, insights, analytics, or marketing consulting experience.
  • Deep expertise in primary market research, with demonstrated ability to integrate primary research with secondary data and analytics to address complex business questions.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical secondary data and syndicated sources; experience with physician-, patient-, payer-, or account-level data preferred.

  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence tools to improve the efficiency, speed, and innovation of market research, analytics, insight synthesis, and business storytelling; demonstrated judgment in applying AI responsibly within appropriate compliance and data privacy requirements preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
