Role Overview

Our client is a fast-growing financial service firm located in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Company is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of HR to lead the full spectrum of HR and people operations. This role is responsible for shaping the people strategy, building scalable systems, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture that aligns with the organisation's goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving manpower planning, building strong talent pipelines, strengthening employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations. The successful candidate will also partner closely with leadership to design structures, processes, and programs that enable people to thrive and the business to scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a forward-looking people strategy and roadmap aligned to business objectives.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organisation design, and succession frameworks.
  • Lead recruitment strategy, ensuring efficient, diverse, and high-quality hiring processes.
  • Design and oversee performance management frameworks, reward systems, and recognition programs.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen organisational culture, employee engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Establish learning and development programs, including leadership and role-based training.
  • Oversee HR operations, including policies, compliance, and global employment standards.
  • Implement and optimise HR systems, data, and analytics for better decision-making.
  • Manage vendor relationships and budgets across HR service providers.
  • Advise leadership on employee relations and support a fair, transparent work environment.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related Social Science from a reputable institution
  • MBA will be an added advantage
  • Professional certifications in CIPMN, SPHRi, SHRM, CIPD is required
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience building and scaling HR functions in high-growth organisations
  • Strong knowledge of employment law in Nigeria and the UK/EU labour regulations
  • Extensive HR generalist experience, with a focus on performance management, employee relations, and recruitment
  • Effective leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in HR analytics, leveraging people metrics to drive informed decision-making
