  • Reconcile Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) source deductions and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax deposits each pay period.
  • Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) for terminations and leaves.
  • Complete Canadian and US year-end, including reconciliations, T4 and T4A slips, W-2 forms.
  • Prepare and file US workers’ compensation for Washington and Ohio and update Finance on new hires and terminations for the US workers’ compensation policy.
  • Resolve US federal and state tax notices with government agencies and ADP, and complete new US state registrations as required.
  • Backup as required for all other global payroll runs processed through Remote, monthly filings for Australian state payroll tax and annual Australian workers’ compensation true-up.
  • Communicate with government bodies and third parties as required.
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes affecting payroll and benefits in Canada and the US.
  • Ensure payroll and benefits enquiries from employees, managers, and cross-functional teams are addressed promptly, accurately, and consistently. Proactively communicate payroll issues, corrections, payment impacts, and required employee actions.
  • Maintain and regularly update Canada and US payroll and benefits SOPs to ensure processes, controls, and procedures are accurately documented, supporting operational consistency, effective knowledge transfer, and reduced key-person dependency.
  • Reconcile payroll and benefit cost allocations and post related journal entries (JEs).
  • Support the year-end financial and third-party audits.
  • Complete payroll and benefits analysis and reconciliations as needed.
  • Own benefits administration for Canada and US, including enrollments, invoice reconciliation, and employee support.
  • Act as the main backup for benefits administration in all other countries.
  • Administer the Canadian Group RRSP, including contribution reconciliations and maintain plan compliance.
  • Reconcile US 401(k) plan contributions.
  • Provide backup support for Australian superannuation and UK pension programs.
  • Support Canada and US benefits renewals.
  • Lead benefits information sessions for new hires in Canada and the US.

Experience we feel will set you up for success:

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including hands-on processing of Canadian and US multi-state payrolls and year end (T4/T4A, W-2)
  • PCP certification (mandatory).
  • Working knowledge of US multi-state payroll tax, including resolving state tax notices.
  • 2+ years of Canada and US benefits administration experience, including group RRSP and 401(k) plans.
  • Experience with global payroll and/or benefits, including working with a global payroll provider such as Remote (an asset).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations) and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Workday Payroll or comparable Canadian payroll-system experience is an asset.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
