Job Description

As a Project Manager, you will be fully responsible for planning, executing, and delivering Edge Server DTOS (Design-to-Order Service) customization projects on time and within budget. This role requires a deep understanding of Advantech’s standard Edge Server platforms and system architecture to assess customer requirements and recommend feasible customization solutions to the sales team and customers. You will oversee resource allocation, coordinate efforts across engineering, product management, operations, and external suppliers, and ensure that project objectives are met with the highest quality standards, from requirement definition through validation and transfer to mass production.

Responsibilities of the Role

1. Project Planning

Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, resources, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. Define customization scope, technical feasibility, NRE estimates, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with product management and engineering teams.

2. Team Leadership

Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams, assigning tasks, setting clear goals, and monitoring performance to ensure successful project completion. Align hardware, BIOS/BMC firmware, mechanical, thermal, validation, and manufacturing activities with project milestones.

3. Stakeholder Management

Act as the primary project contact for clients and stakeholders, maintaining transparent communication about project status, risks, and changes. Work closely with sales and product management to align customer expectations with platform capabilities, project costs, and delivery commitments.

4. Problem Solving

Proactively address and resolve issues or conflicts during the project lifecycle, escalating when necessary. Manage technical risks, requirement changes, and component availability issues, and assess their impact on project scope, cost, and schedule.

5. Quality Assurance and Compliance

Ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed customer expectations in quality, performance, and contractual compliance. Conduct regular assessments to verify adherence to specifications and standards. Coordinate system validation, applicable regulatory certifications, customer acceptance, and production readiness to ensure a smooth transition to mass production.

Required Qualifications

1. Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field; candidates with a Business Administration degree and relevant technical experience will also be considered. An advanced degree or Project Management certification is a plus.

2. Experience

Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in OEM/ODM project management, preferably involving servers, industrial computers, or related system-level products. Experience managing customization projects from requirement definition and design validation through production transfer is preferred.

3. Language Proficiency

Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders, including technical discussions and project reviews with international customers.

4. Leadership & Decision-Making

Strong leadership abilities with excellent decision-making skills. Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and balance customer requirements, technical feasibility, cost, and delivery schedules.

5. Problem-Solving & Technical Understanding

Demonstrated success in navigating complex challenges and delivering results in high-pressure environments. Working knowledge of server architecture, including CPU, memory, PCIe expansion, storage, networking, power, thermal design, and BIOS/BMC functionality, with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable engineering requirements.

6. Financial Acumen

Strong financial skills with experience in managing project budgets effectively, including NRE estimation and tracking, customization-related BOM cost impacts, and cost assessment for engineering changes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
