Position Overview

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Senior Manager of Customer Programs to lead the strategic planning, design, and execution of our utility’s demand-side management (DSM) and clean energy portfolio. In this role, you will head a team responsible for driving the deployment of Energy Efficiency (EE), Demand Response (DR), Electric Vehicle (EV), and Green Power programs that deliver value for our customers in both Indiana and Ohio.

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between regulatory strategy, implementation execution, and customer needs, ensuring our portfolio meets goals cost-effectively with high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Program Design

• Portfolio Strategy: Oversee the long-term roadmap and annual planning for EE, DR, EV charging infrastructure, and Green Power products.

• Innovation & Pilot Programs: Identify emerging clean energy technologies (e.g., V2G, smart thermostats, virtual power plants) and design pilot frameworks to test scalability.

Implementation & Operations

• Program Execution: Oversee a team of program managers responsible for the day-to-day deployment and marketing of residential, commercial, and industrial customer programs.

• Vendor & Contractor Management: Direct implementation contractors, trade allies, and technology vendors to ensure seamless delivery and high customer satisfaction.

• Budget Oversight: Manage a multi-million dollar annual portfolio budget, tracking cost-effectiveness and compliance with authorized budgets.

Regulatory Compliance & Evaluation

• Regulatory Testimony: Prepare and support regulatory filings, data requests, and expert testimony before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and/or Public Utility Commission of Ohio.

• EM&V Alignment: Partner with Evaluation, Measurement, and Verification (EM&V) teams to verify energy savings, peak demand reduction, and program cost-effectiveness performance.

• Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with state regulatory orders.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of program managers.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Strategic Accounts, Grid Operations, Communications, IT Services, Regulatory, Legal, Accounting and FP&A teams to ensure enterprise-wide program alignment.

• Community Relations: Represent the utility at industry conferences, regulatory workshops, and community events to promote utility programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, Economics, or a related field, or minimum of 5–7 years of experience in the utility or clean energy sector, with at least 2–4 years in a leadership or management role.

• Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of utility regulatory frameworks, cost-effectiveness testing, EV charging infrastructure frameworks, and demand-side management (DSM) program design.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with vendor management, DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems), billing systems, and energy modeling tools is a plus.

• Certifications: PMP, CEM (Certified Energy Manager), or LEED accreditation is a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
