The posting

The Robotics & Mechatronics Teams at Agile Robots are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d) Industrial Robot Control, who will develop C++ control software for the robot arm, from single-motor to multi-body control.

Responsibilities

  • Control Software: Design and develop C++ software for the robot's control stack, covering kinematics, trajectory generation, and compliance control from single-motor to multi-body coordination.
  • Hardware Tuning: Support parameter identification and controller-gain tuning against physical hardware, working alongside more senior engineers to close the gap between simulation and real behavior.
  • Real-Time Performance: Profile control software and help keep it within the timing margins the arm's safety and stability depend on.
  • Hardware Validation: Write automated software tests, define hardware testing procedures, and work hands-on with the robot to confirm control software behaves correctly outside simulation.
  • Code Quality: Take part in code reviews with the wider team, both giving and receiving feedback that keeps the control codebase maintainable.
  • Technology Evaluation: Investigate and evaluate emerging robotic control methods and algorithms relevant to the team's work.

Essential Skills

  • Background: Degree in computer science, control engineering, mechatronics, or a related engineering field, with one to three years of professional experience in C++ development, or an equivalent record of relevant academic or project work.
  • Kinematics & Dynamics: Working understanding of robot kinematics and dynamics, sufficient to reason about forward and inverse mappings and trajectory generation for a multi-body arm.
  • Control Engineering: Background in control engineering, with some exposure to parameter identification and controller tuning.
  • Modern C++: Working proficiency in modern C++, including thread-safe and exception-safe code, and comfort working across the standard build, test, and debugging toolchain on Linux.
  • Hardware Troubleshooting: Basic ability and willingness to troubleshoot and debug directly on physical robotic hardware, not only software running in isolation.

Beneficial Skills

  • Python: Working programming skills in Python or a similar scripting language, used alongside C++ for tooling and analysis.
  • CI/CD Ownership: Experience maintaining or extending CI/CD pipelines for a C++ codebase.

What we offer

  • A dynamic high-tech company, combined with financial soundness and world-class investors.
  • Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment.
  • Lots of development opportunities as we continue to grow.
  • Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth.
  • Corporate Benefits Program covering health, mobility, and learning for 100€ net per month.
  • Modern office facilities with a rooftop terrace overlooking Munich, free drinks & fruits, and regular company events contribute to a good working environment

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
