Job Description

Service Account Manager – Southern Territory

The Service Account Manager (SAM) for the Southern Territory will reside within Agilent's Services & Support Division (SSD) and be responsible for driving aftermarket service sales, customer retention, and account growth across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee. This role supports both new and existing customers by delivering the full CrossLab Asset Performance Management portfolio, including standard service agreements, laboratory-wide service solutions, compliance and operational support programs, and CrossLab digital technologies.

In this strategic, customer-facing role, you will leverage your sales, business development, and account management expertise to expand customer partnerships and drive profitable growth across Pharmaceutical, Chemical Analysis, Life Sciences, Academic, Government, and Industrial markets. You will work closely with customers to understand their operational, financial, and compliance objectives while positioning Agilent's service solutions to improve productivity, optimize asset utilization, and enhance laboratory performance.

As a key member of the territory team, you will partner with inside sales representatives, field sales teams, service delivery personnel, Customer Operations Center (CoPC), Credit & Collections, and other business partners to develop and execute territory strategies, maximize customer satisfaction, and ensure a world-class customer experience throughout the customer lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate service sales growth within assigned named accounts and geographic territories throughout the Southern Region Territory
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to retain existing business while identifying and capturing new growth opportunities.
  • Promote and sell Agilent's CrossLab Asset Performance Management portfolio, including service agreements, digital solutions, and customized service offerings.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customer stakeholders, including executive, operational, technical, and procurement contacts.
  • Proactively assess customer needs and position solutions that deliver measurable operational, financial, and compliance benefits.
  • Lead strategic selling activities, including opportunity qualification, deal planning, competitive positioning, account penetration, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously refine lead generation and territory growth plans while maintaining a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation, delivery, and ongoing support of customer solutions.
  • Serve as a leadership contributor within the territory team by driving strategy, sharing best practices, and facilitating alignment across stakeholders.
  • Lead projects and initiatives requiring coordination across multiple functions, organizations, and business groups.
  • Resolve a broad range of customer and business challenges through sound judgment, creativity, and independent decision-making.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales quotas, growth objectives, and key performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree required; science, engineering, or business-related disciplines preferred.
  • 4+ years of successful sales, account management, or business development experience, preferably within Life Sciences, analytical instrumentation, laboratory services, or solution-based selling environments.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and driving growth within strategic or major accounts.
  • Demonstrated success selling consultative, value-based solutions and developing long-term customer partnerships.
  • Strong ability to communicate the operational, financial, and compliance value of service and support solutions.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and working effectively within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work independently while driving strategic initiatives across a geographically dispersed territory.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and pipeline management skills.
  • Knowledge of analytical instrumentation, laboratory operations, and service business models is preferred.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of account management and sales processes, along with the ability to solve complex business challenges with limited supervision.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
