Job Description

ROLE: QA Technician

REPORTS TO: QA Manager

WAGE: $38.43 (Teamsters Union Local 464)

SHIFT: Must be able to work varied shifts 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. We are filling multiple positions on day, afternoon and overnight shifts. Must be able to work all shifts.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Quality Assurance team! Our Quality Assurance Technician will help us ensure the fast and accurate handling of documents and products/material tests to support the quality team.

The QA Technician will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that raw material, raw product and finished product is inspected and released in time and that non-conforming product disposition is handled in an efficient manner.

  • You understand HACCP concepts and processes (training in HACCP)
  • You have intermediate level Excel, Word, and Outlook skills

Experience

  • You have a Degree/Diploma in Food Science/Food Technology or related discipline
  • You have experience working in a similar capacity, preferably in a food production facility or a food testing lab

Nice-to-Have

  • You have experience troubleshooting complex QA issues

things you will do…

  • Ensure products meet company and regulatory standards by running tests, inspections, reports, internal and external audits
  • Help manage all QA and QC records, documents, and samples pertaining to HACCP and CFIA, etc.
  • Carry out lab testing including micro test, organoleptic evaluation and other plant base and dairy quality tests
  • Verification of all sanitation activities pertaining to preoperational inspections, swabbing, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Effectively communicate quality control expectations to employees and support with training for GMP’s

  • You must be available to work 9-hour shifts on a 36-hour work week (4 X 9 hour shifts, scheduled 24/7)

Detailed Description of Duties:

  • Monitors raw batches of product and tests for compliance to specifications such as fat, total solids, brix, acidity, viscosity, density and vitamin C
  • Fixes and standardizes batches that are out of specification
  • Monitors finished product as to the product specification, filler temperature, weight and codes
  • Monitors plant sanitation (solution concentration tests)
  • Tests finished product at end of code
  • Prepares Micro analysis of finished products after pre-incubation
  • Conducts Standard plating- SPC, OSA, VRBA
  • Monitors the Allergen Control Program using protein swabs and allergen test kits
  • Conduct swabbing and other sampling following environmental monitoring program.
  • Perform bulk receiving testing (milk, soy, chai, sugar, oat)
  • Customer Complaint investigations and testing.
  • Report process deviations and product failures and assist in the investigation
  • Verification of sanitation activities, including preoperational inspections, swabbing, and communicating corrective actions to production personnel.
  • HACCP/GMP monitoring and verification
  • Completing and filing accurate and legible QA records and documentation.
  • Calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Repetitive lifting to 12 kg
  • Other duties as assigned
