Reimagine What’s Possible

Project Engineer, Packaged Gases

Join Air Products as Project Engineer for Packaged Gases in the Netherlands, taking ownership of a varied portfolio of engineering projects from initial concept through construction and commissioning. You will work independently while bringing together depot teams, central functions, field engineers, contractors, and international colleagues to deliver safe, compliant, high-quality results. The portfolio may include 10 to 20 projects each year, with individual project values indicated in the source draft from approximately EUR 5,000 up to EUR 1 million, subject to TA and hiring-manager confirmation.

Benefits and onboarding

You can expect a role with visible impact, broad stakeholder exposure, and opportunities to strengthen your project leadership across the Dutch Packaged Gases network. Detailed compensation and local benefits, including any variable pay, pension, insurance, wellbeing, leave, and commuting provisions, will be confirmed before publication.

At Air Products we recognise that starting a new job isn't a light decision. To ensure an easy transition, we have built an outstanding onboarding experience to integrate you as our brand-new employee into your new role and the wider organization.

As our Project Engineer, you will...

· Lead assigned projects end to end, from initiation and planning through construction, commissioning, and handover.

· Own delivery against agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations, supported by clear and accurate reporting.

· Provide technical direction throughout the engineering lifecycle and coordinate internal specialists, field engineers, contractors, and external partners.

· Prepare robust cost estimates and ensure designs and execution comply with legal requirements, Air Products standards, specifications, and procedures.

· Manage stakeholders and facilitate steering discussions so that decisions, risks, actions, and progress remain transparent.

· Maintain complete project records in SAP, Microsoft Office applications, and relevant Air Products systems.

· Partner with depots and central functions on maintenance implementation, installations, audits, and continuous improvement activities.

As our Project Engineer, you already are or have...

· A bachelor’s degree in engineering, such as process, mechatronics, electrical, plant, or a closely related discipline.

· At least three years of relevant professional experience, including practical exposure to project planning and execution.

· A working understanding of business processes, cost control, and sound project-management principles.

· Strong problem-solving, organisation, ownership, communication, and collaboration skills.

· Confidence using Microsoft Office and experience with SAP or comparable enterprise systems.

· Comfort working in English in an international environment.

· Willingness to travel within the Netherlands and, when needed, undertake short multi-day assignments.

Preferred or to be confirmed

· Experience delivering multidisciplinary engineering or industrial-gases projects in an operating environment.

· Knowledge of packaged gases operations, depot maintenance, contractor coordination, commissioning, or technical audits.

· Dutch language capability appropriate to site, contractor, customer, and regulatory interaction.

· German language capability only if it is genuinely required for the role’s cross-border stakeholder scope.

What we offer

· A high-ownership role supporting the Netherlands Packaged Gases project portfolio.

· Varied engineering work from early concept and cost estimation through construction and commissioning.

· Collaboration with depot teams, technical specialists, contractors, and international colleagues.

· The opportunity to influence safety, reliability, compliance, quality, and investment outcomes.

· Learning, development, and onboarding support within a global organisation.

· A locally aligned compensation and benefits package, to be completed and approved before posting.

Compensation decisions are based on objective, role-related criteria such as relevant experience, education, skills, location, scope, and assessed proficiencies. Each role has an established pay range, and the applicable range or relevant details will be shared in line with local requirements. The approved salary range for this vacancy must be added before publication.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
