Position Summary
Aisin Automotive Casting LLC is seeking a skilled, dependable, and well-rounded Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our high-pressure die-casting manufacturing facility. This position troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and improves industrial production equipment, including die-casting machines, CNC equipment, trim presses, robotic systems, furnaces, and associated auxiliary equipment.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of industrial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Specialization in one technical discipline is not required; willingness to develop skills across multiple disciplines is essential.
Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures on die-casting machines, CNC equipment, trim presses, furnaces, robots, conveyors, and auxiliary systems.
- Use systematic troubleshooting methods, diagnostic instruments, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings to identify equipment faults.
- Inspect, repair, and replace bearings, gears, belts, chains, couplings, and other mechanical or power transmission components.
- Troubleshoot motors, starters, relays, contactors, sensors, switches, variable frequency drives, and related industrial controls.
- Diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic faults involving pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, regulators, and related components.
- Perform basic PLC-controlled equipment troubleshooting, including I/O and sensor faults; escalate programming or complex control issues when appropriate.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, restore equipment to safe and reliable operation, and escalate complex or recurring issues to maintenance leadership or engineering.
Preventive Maintenance and Reliability
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
- Identify wear, damage, misalignment, overheating, leaks, and developing failures; communicate recommended corrective actions.
- Assist in root cause investigations and continuous improvement efforts to reduce repeat failures and downtime.
- Support predictive maintenance and condition monitoring activities as applicable.
Maintenance Documentation and Communication
- Accurately document inspections, repairs, failure details, parts used, and completed work in the CMMS.
- Communicate equipment status, outstanding repairs, and priorities during shift transitions and with production personnel.
- Notify maintenance leadership of recurring failures, safety concerns, and significant equipment issues; follow established escalation procedures.
- Follow work order priorities and restore work areas to acceptable condition after maintenance.
Equipment Installation and Improvement Support
- Assist engineers, contractors, and vendors with equipment installation, relocation, modifications, commissioning, and startup.
- Support assembly, connections, adjustments, and functional testing within training and authorization.
- Identify maintainability concerns and spare parts needs; provide practical feedback on serviceability and reliability.
- Participate in approved equipment improvement projects.
Technical Training and Team Development
- Participate in company, manufacturer, vendor, and engineering-led technical training.
- Develop knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
- Share troubleshooting methods and equipment knowledge with fellow team members; assist less-experienced technicians when appropriate.
- Apply newly acquired skills to improve maintenance quality and department performance.
Safety, Housekeeping, and Teamwork
- Follow company safety policies, lockout/tagout, hazardous-energy, electrical safety, machine guarding, hot-work, and PPE requirements.
- Recognize and report unsafe conditions; maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, engineers, contractors, and other departments; perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two to four years of relevant industrial maintenance experience, or equivalent technical education, training, and practical experience.
- Working knowledge of industrial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and basic industrial controls.
- Ability to read technical manuals, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to use maintenance tools, measurement devices, and diagnostic instruments; strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, work independently when appropriate, collaborate with a team, and participate in technical training.
- Knowledge of industrial safety and lockout/tagout; availability for overtime, weekends, holidays, or schedule adjustments as operational needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or certification in Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Technology, or related field.
- Experience in high-pressure die casting, automotive manufacturing, foundry operations, or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience with die-casting machines, CNC equipment, trim presses, furnaces, robots, or automated machinery.
- Familiarity with Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar PLCs; motor controls, VFDs, and hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting.
- Experience with mechanical alignment, precision measurement, welding, fabrication, or CMMS.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work in an industrial manufacturing environment with heat, noise, moving machinery, electrical systems, and molten metal operations.
- Frequently stand, walk, climb, reach, and use tools; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, following safe material-handling procedures.
- Wear required PPE and perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Expectations
- Maintain dependable attendance, respond to breakdowns with appropriate urgency, and prioritize safety and repair quality.
- Maintain accurate records, communicate unfinished work, and demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
