Job Description

12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Turn insight into better customer experiences.

At AJ Bell, we believe investing should feel good. For our customers, that means making investing simpler, more relevant and easier to navigate. Behind those experiences is better understanding of what customers need, what works and where we can improve.

As Customer Marketing Analytics Manager, you'll help Customer Marketing make better decisions through robust measurement, experimentation and actionable insight. You'll build the frameworks, tools and analytical capability that help us understand the impact of our campaigns, optimise what we do and create more relevant experiences for our customers.

Working across Customer Marketing, CRM and Strategy & Insights, you'll establish and evolve our testing and measurement capability. You'll make sure campaigns are designed with meaningful measures of success from the outset, and that the results lead to clear actions.

As an individual contributor, you'll combine analytical expertise with strong stakeholder management, acting as the bridge between marketing, CRM, data and insights. You'll translate business objectives into analytical approaches that support customer and commercial growth, while helping Marketing Managers access and use insight more effectively.

What you'll do

Build a stronger test-and-learn culture

  • Develop and operationalise Customer Marketing's A/B testing and control group strategy, establishing a structured test-and-learn framework that enables continuous optimisation.
  • Design robust measurement methodologies, ensuring campaigns are configured to produce statistically meaningful and commercially relevant results.
  • Develop and embed consistent KPIs, success measures and measurement frameworks across

Make campaigns more measurable

  • Work closely with CRM throughout campaign planning and delivery to ensure campaigns, tests and control groups are configured correctly and aligned to agreed measurement objectives.
  • Define and document campaign measurement and data requirements, ensuring the appropriate data is captured to support analysis, reporting and optimisation.
  • Champion best practice in campaign measurement, experimentation and performance evaluation across Customer Marketing.

Build reporting people can use

  • Own and evolve the Customer Marketing Measurement Framework, ensuring consistent KPIs, measurement methodologies and reporting are applied across all Customer Marketing activity and remain aligned to business objectives.
  • Partner with CRM and Strategy & Insights to develop scalable reporting and dashboards that provide a consolidated view of Customer Marketing performance.
  • Develop scalable reporting and dashboards that provide a consolidated view of Customer Marketing performance across Bloomreach, Power BI and other data sources, including Snowflake, Google Analytics and Content Square.
  • Develop standardised reporting, dashboards and self-service tools that enable Marketing Managers to access insight and monitor campaign performance.
  • Continuously improve reporting and measurement capabilities to support a growing Customer Marketing function.

Turn data into action

  • Analyse campaign performance, customer behaviour and commercial outcomes to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that inform campaign optimisation, investment decisions and future planning.
  • Surface key risks and opportunities to senior stakeholders, providing context and clear recommendations for action.

Build analytical capability across Customer Marketing

  • Act as the primary liaison across Marketing, CRM, Data and Insights teams, aligning priorities, translating business requirements and ensuring timely delivery of analytical solutions.
  • Support Marketing Managers in developing their analytical capability through coaching, knowledge sharing and embedding best practice.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, evidence-based decision making and continuous improvement across the Customer Marketing team.
  • Keep abreast of emerging measurement approaches, analytical techniques and marketing technologies, identifying opportunities to improve how Customer Marketing measures and optimises performance.

Keep measurement responsible and well governed

  • Ensure marketing measurement and reporting activities comply with regulatory requirements, data governance standards and customer privacy obligations.
  • Support the business in meeting its regulatory responsibilities, including Consumer Duty, by ensuring appropriate controls and measurement are in place.
  • Identify and escalate data-related risks or issues, working collaboratively to ensure they are effectively managed.

What we're looking for

You'll be an experienced marketing analytics or customer analytics professional who can combine strong analytical thinking with commercial judgement and excellent communication. You'll be comfortable working with technical data and measurement methodologies, but just as importantly, you'll be able to explain what the findings mean and influence others to act on them.

Experience

  • Experience developing and embedding marketing measurement, experimentation or customer analytics capabilities.
  • Experience establishing best practices, improving analytics maturity and embedding scalable measurement approaches.
  • Experience working with CRM teams and marketing automation platforms.
  • Strong understanding of customer marketing, CRM and customer lifecycle marketing principles.
  • Experience designing A/B tests, control groups and measurement frameworks that deliver statistically meaningful and commercially actionable insight.
  • Proven ability to translate business objectives into analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience developing and owning marketing performance reporting and measurement frameworks, including regular reporting to senior stakeholders, using Power BI or similar visualisation tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.

Knowledge

  • Marketing effectiveness, campaign measurement, attribution, incrementality and ROI evaluation.
  • Statistical testing methodologies, including A/B testing, control groups and significance testing.
  • Reporting and visualisation approaches that enable effective decision making.
  • Understanding of customer lifecycle marketing, segmentation, personalisation, loyalty and retention strategies.
  • Knowledge of customer data models, CRM platforms and data governance principles.
  • An understanding of platforms such as Bloomreach, Snowflake, Google Analytics and Content Square would be advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen with the ability to translate insight into strategies that drive customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, adapting insight for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Experience using Power BI, Excel and marketing analytics tools to interrogate and present data.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Passion for experimentation, optimisation and using evidence to improve customer outcomes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
