Job Description
The Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing and improving the organization’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on system reliability, performance, security, and scalability. This position supports server, storage, backup, virtualization, email, and cloud environments while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and system optimization. The Systems Engineer also troubleshoots infrastructure issues, supports system upgrades and maintenance, and collaborates with the IT team to implement technology solutions that meet evolving business needs
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain IT infrastructure solutions that support organizational growth and scalability.
- Configure and optimize server environments, virtualization technologies, and cloud-based systems.
- Manage enterprise backup solutions to support data integrity, availability, and recovery readiness.
- Maintain enterprise email platforms and implement security and reliability best practices.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to improve system administration and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to identify opportunities for system optimization.
- Strengthen infrastructure security through system hardening, monitoring, patching, and compliance practices.
- Perform software installations, upgrades, updates, and patching while maintaining system stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and infrastructure-related technical issues.
- Collaborate with IT teams to evaluate and implement new technologies and system improvements.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Monitor potential security risks and follow established cybersecurity best practices.
- Travel as needed, work varied shifts including weekends and holidays, and perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure management; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with Windows Server, Linux, enterprise email platforms such as Exchange and Microsoft 365, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with performance monitoring, system automation, and infrastructure management tools.
- Working knowledge of automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShell.
- Familiarity with email security protocols including DKIM, SPF, and DMARC.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, system hardening, and applicable compliance frameworks.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in varying environments, travel as required, and work varied schedules.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required gaming licensure and a valid driver’s license
