Offered in collaboration with Marshall Teacher Residency, Alliance's one-year Teacher Residency provides a hands-on student teaching experience. Residents receive $32,000 to $52,500 in financial support, primarily for living expenses, with select Alliance scholarships also providing tuition assistance. Residents spend four days per week at an Alliance school, gaining hands-on experience working with scholars, and one full day per week attending teacher credential coursework. ABOUT MARSHALL TEACHER RESIDENCY

Aspiring teachers can obtain a teaching credential in just one year through the Marshall Teacher Residency program. One of the most comprehensive residencies for aspiring teachers in the nation, Marshall provides a pathway to Single and Multiple Subject Teaching, as well as Education Specialist instruction. Marshall places hands-on practice, data-driven learning, collaboration, and mentorship at the heart of the year-long program.

For the 2027-28 residency year, Alliance is accepting applications only from candidates pursuing a Single Subject credential in Mathematics, Science, or English Language Arts, or an Education Specialist (Special Education) credential. Applications in other credential areas will not be considered for this cycle.

WHY BECOME A TEACHER RESIDENT AT ALLIANCE?

Learn alongside experienced educators in nationally recognized schools. Through hands-on classroom experiences, guidance from exceptional mentor teachers, and Marshall credential coursework, residents develop the skills and confidence to become effective teachers.

Upon successful completion of program and credential requirements, residents earn a California Preliminary Teaching Credential and can pursue opportunities to become full-time Alliance teachers.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Teacher Residents are not Alliance or Marshall employees.

For the 2027–28 academic year, Alliance anticipates offering 10 teacher residency placements, with the following financial support:

  • 9 Alliance Scholarship Placements: Residents receive up to $52,500 in combined financial support, including a $28,500 living stipend from Marshall Teacher Residency and a $24,000 scholarship from Alliance College-Ready Public Schools.
  • 1 Marshall-Funded Placement: One resident receives a $32,000 living stipend from Marshall Teacher Residency, without an additional Alliance scholarship.

Scholarship Availability: Alliance scholarships are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis as selected candidates formally accept their residency placements, subject to available funding and program requirements. Priority consideration for residency admission will be given to completed applications submitted by January 22, 2027. Each selected candidate will receive details of their financial support package before accepting a residency placement. Financial support is intended to help offset living and program expenses.

Golden State Teacher Grant: Candidates who accept residency placements will receive assistance applying for the Golden State Teacher Grant, which may provide additional financial support toward tuition costs. Grant eligibility, award amounts, and availability are subject to applicable state requirements and funding and are not guaranteed by Alliance or Marshall.

Program and Award Conditions: All scholarship and stipend amounts and availability are subject to program funding and requirements. Submission of an application does not guarantee admission or financial support. A residency placement or financial support award does not constitute an offer of employment with Alliance or Marshall. Teacher Residents participate as student interns and are not employees of either organization.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, anti-racist, pro-Black community that celebrates diversity, equity, and the unique identities of all scholars and staff. Nearly two-thirds of our teachers and administrators identify as people of color, reinforcing our commitment to representation and the power of diverse role models. We recognize the richness of the cultures and communities we serve, and we believe that embracing and empowering these identities is essential to the success and pride of our scholars. Working at Alliance means joining a movement to drive transformative change, nurture resilience, and build lifelong, meaningful connections with scholars and their communities.

Champion Alliance’s Anti-Racist, Pro-Black Mission: The strongest candidates will bring a commitment to Alliance’s mission of building an anti-racist, pro-Black community that prioritizes the success and well-being of Black and Brown scholars. Candidates should have a passion for promoting equity through anti-racist, student-centered teaching practices that celebrate racial and cultural identities. This role is rooted in service to systemically underserved communities in Los Angeles, helping scholars graduate “college-ready” with pride in who they are.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
