Job Title: Targeting & Weapons Effects Analyst

Company: Altus Engineering

Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Salary: $130,000 - $175,000 annually

Position Overview: Altus Engineering is seeking a Targeting Analyst to support the Joint Technical Coordinating Group for Munitions Effectiveness (JTCG/ME) Program Office. You will review targeting and weaponeering data, compare technical baselines, identify software and data discrepancies, and support approved technical products for international partners. We welcome candidates with operational targeting, strike planning, or weaponeering experience, as well as analysts experienced in verifying munitions software and weapons-effects data. Relevant military training and experience are valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and compare weaponeering data, weapon/platform/fuze configurations, and technical baselines to identify discrepancies and support accurate partner-nation products.
  • Apply knowledge of targeting and Collateral Damage Estimation (CDE) methodologies to review supporting tables, data, and software outputs.
  • Coordinate with software developers and technical experts to document discrepancies, investigate calculation differences, and verify corrections.
  • Assemble technical release documentation and supporting materials for Government foreign disclosure review.
  • Support FMS requirements development and review technical inputs to Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOA), amendments, and modifications for consistency with approved scope and disclosure guidance.
  • Maintain technical tracking matrices, case documentation, knowledge bases, and outstanding action lists.
  • Prepare and present technical briefings and status updates for Government leadership, Program Management Reviews (PMRs), and partner-nation engagements.
  • Support CONUS and OCONUS meetings, technical exchanges, and customer engagements as required.

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in targeting, strike planning, weaponeering, weapons-effects analysis, or technical verification of munitions software and data.
  • Practical experience reviewing targeting or weaponeering products, assessing weapon/platform/fuze configurations, or comparing technical datasets against approved reference baselines.
  • Familiarity with Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual (JMEM) products, U.S. weaponeering baselines, or targeting data baselines.
  • Understanding of CDE and no-strike methodologies.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to reconcile detailed datasets, maintain tracking matrices, and identify discrepancies.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and collaborate with program personnel, software developers, and operational users.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET security clearance.
  • Willing and able to travel CONUS and OCONUS and obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
  • A college degree is preferred but not required. Relevant military training and operational experience may substitute for formal education.

In addition to these skills, we also desire a candidate who has provided previous support or has experience with the following:

  • Experience with Joint Weaponeering System (JWS), Digital Precision Strike Suite (DPSS), or other JTCG/ME products.
  • Joint Targeting School or equivalent service targeting, weaponeering, or CDE training.
  • Experience preparing target materials, conducting battle damage assessment, or supporting joint fires and strike planning.
  • Experience assembling foreign disclosure packages, technical release documentation, or supporting memoranda for Government review.
  • Familiarity with National Disclosure Policy or Technology Security and Foreign Disclosure processes.
  • Software testing, technical data verification and validation, or discrepancy tracking using Jira, Confluence, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with FMS, security cooperation, partner-nation support, or technical inputs to Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOA).
  • Experience delivering technical briefings, supporting user training, or participating in international customer engagements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
