The posting

Prime Video is a first-stop destination for premium video in one app, available on thousands of devices worldwide. Alongside movies, series, and live sports, Prime Video is becoming a place customers come every day to stay informed, and we're investing in News to make that happen.

Our News program is early. We launched a dedicated News experience this year and are moving quickly, but much of what this product could become is still unbuilt. We're looking for a Principal Product Manager – Technical to lead Prime Video's effort to become the best place to watch video news. The work feels like a startup inside a larger business. You'll have the room to define a new category for Prime Video, along with the scale, data, and technology to reach millions of customers.

You'll own the strategy for growing customers' awareness of news on Prime Video and making it a daily habit. You'll set ambitious goals and run the programs that deliver them. A central part of the work is inventing AI-powered news features that inform and engage customers. You'll partner directly with applied scientists and engineers to build them, turning user research and data into the experience customers see on screen. You'll study the competitive landscape closely so that Prime Video sets the bar for video news streaming instead of following it.

We're looking for a hands-on leader who is highly analytical, customer obsessed, and comfortable with ambiguity. You have a track record of taking a new product area from early traction to scale. You're fluent in AI/ML and generative AI, and you can weigh in on technical trade-offs with scientists and engineers. You influence senior stakeholders through clear writing and sound judgment, and you can bring hotly debated topics to a decision. Experience in news or digital media is a strong plus.

Key job responsibilities - Define the multi-year vision, strategy, and roadmap for news on Prime Video, and the metrics that measure customer awareness, engagement, and daily habit. - Set ambitious, measurable goals for news growth, and drive the programs and feature launches that deliver them. - Invent AI-powered news experiences that help customers stay informed in ways they can't get elsewhere. - Partner directly with applied scientists and software engineers to frame problems, evaluate model and technology choices, and make trade-offs between quality, speed, and cost. - Build a deep understanding of news customers through user research, experimentation, and data analysis, and translate those insights into product requirements and design direction. - Continuously benchmark against best-in-class news and video experiences, track emerging industry trends, and use those insights to inform Prime Video's approach. - Write clear product narratives and requirements that align senior leaders and cross-functional partners, and bring contentious decisions to resolution. - Drive launches across teams inside and outside Prime Video, including design, content partnerships, marketing, legal, and operations. - Shape how Prime Video meets the unique demands of news, including timeliness, accuracy, trust, and responsible use of AI.

About the team Prime Video's Global App Experience (GAE) organization builds a simple, intuitive, fast, and personalized streaming experience for Prime Video customers worldwide, across web, mobile, and living room devices. Our goal is to make Prime Video a daily destination where customers want to come to watch their favorite content. The News team within GAE is central to that goal. We're building Prime Video into the place customers turn every day to stay informed. The team combines the energy of an early-stage startup with GAE's global reach and Amazon's investments in AI. We work closely with science, engineering, design, and content partners to experiment fast, learn from customers, and scale what works.

- 4+ years of end to end product delivery experience - 8+ years of technical product or program management experience - Bachelor's degree - Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product - Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition - Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product - Experience technical product management - Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders - Experience with AI/ML technologies

- Master's degree in a technical field, or Master of Business Administration - Experience with machine learning (ML) tools and methods - Experience reviewing user research and data to build a strategic and user-friendly design - 5+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience - Familiarity with modern GenAI or LLM tools - Experience in journalism or other editorial media - Passionate consumer of news and follower of the news business

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
