The posting

Are you energized by building products that matter at scale? Amazon Ads is looking for a Principal Product Manager, Technical to define and execute the roadmap for Amazon Retail Ad Service. This service enables retailers to launch and grow their own ads business using Amazon's proven ad technology, while helping advertisers connect with shoppers across retail partners.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end retailer experience, from adoption and onboarding through performance optimization and insights. You will drive the product vision for retailers of all sizes, apply Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to solve problems at scale, and coordinate complex product initiatives with engineering, design, science, and business teams. You will make high-quality decisions when data is incomplete, define the frameworks your organization uses to evaluate trade-offs, and shape how retailers worldwide build their advertising businesses.

Key job responsibilities - Own the multi-year product vision and strategic roadmap for the retailer experience, defining clear tenets and making trade-off decisions that balance retailer value with business outcomes. - Lead complex, cross-functional product initiatives from opportunity identification and requirements definition through launch and iteration, partnering with engineering, design, science, and go-to-market teams. - Design experimentation frameworks and define success metrics that distinguish output metrics such as adoption and onboarding velocity from outcome metrics such as retailer revenue growth. - Identify and evaluate GenAI-powered capabilities that accelerate retailer onboarding and optimization, turning emerging technology into practical product experiences. - Drive strategic alignment through written narratives and executive-level communications, influencing priorities across multiple organizations to secure investment and resolve competing roadmap demands.

A day in the life You might start your morning reviewing retailer onboarding metrics and experiment results to decide whether a new self-service workflow is ready to scale. By mid-morning you are in an architecture review with engineering, evaluating trade-offs for an API integration that will unlock a new retailer segment. After lunch you draft a product narrative for an upcoming leadership review, then join a working session with design and science to prototype a GenAI-driven optimization feature. You wrap up the day syncing with go-to-market partners on launch sequencing for the next quarter.

About the team Our team within Amazon Ads builds and operates Amazon Retail Ad Service, helping retailers create and scale their own advertising businesses while connecting advertisers with shoppers across retail partners. We are a collaborative group of product managers, engineers, designers, and scientists who care about making advertising technology accessible and effective. We are investing in GenAI-powered tools and expanded retailer integrations, and this role will be central to shaping that roadmap.

- Bachelor's degree - 7+ years of end to end product delivery experience - 7+ years of technical product or program management experience - Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition - Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product - Experience technical product management - Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product - Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders - Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product - Experience with and deep understanding of advertising technologies (i.e., ad server, DSP)

- Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements - Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement - 6+ years of performance in an online advertising role and familiarity with advertising products and ad serving technologies experience - Experience building high-velocity ad products

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
